Am I the only one who thinks this game and L.A. Noire look like they belonged on my PS2 about 7 years ago?
Find me a same-socket Pentium and Celeron where the Celeron gets better performance.pokepuke said:Your example here is very laughable, especially without context of respective era or other specs from each chip.Pebkac said:"Series 3" vs "Series 4" isn't going to make a huge different, but the 8 in 3850 signifies a gaming series card, while the 2 in 4250 signifies general purpose; ie: high definition movies.
It's like Celeron 3.2 GHz VS Pentium 2.6 GHz.
Don't ever make this comparison again.
I'd expect it to run. notebookcheck.net is pretty sweet site for looking up hardware.Sgt_Jakeman214 said:Hmm, I've got a similar layout in a laptop to redisforever, but I've got the ATI Radeon mobility HD4570 (512mb). It does run Starcraft 2 on medium graphics quite well, and Flight Sim 9/2004 on high. The poor little Intel Pentium Dual Core running at 2.3Ghz is probably my main limiting factor.
Do you reckon my Laptop would be able to handle the Duke?
You are correct! That was an odd mistake to make. (Believe it or not, I am familiar with the term "adieu" as it's properly used.) Anyway, thanks for the heads-up.kurupt87 said:The phrase is, "without further ado".Andy Chalk said:so without further adieu
Third sentence, actually, but good try. I'm sure that it'd be close enough to count as a hit on the console version.Mr. Omega said:So in the FIRST SENTENCE, you claim that PC Gamers have better taste than console gamers, even coming up with a cute little nickname for console gamers.Andy Chalk said:Button-mashers have it easy when it comes to buying videogames. Nice bit of professional gaming journalism... /sarcasm
Actually (to the both of you) you'll find a lot of PC gamers requests for higher marks are because of a few simple connections.Nikolaz72 said:What is the reason PC gamers cannot play games like Halo or Little Big Planet. just because it isn't crysis grumble grumble...
EDIT: One thing i REALLY don't understnad is WHY PC GAMERS WANT MEGA-HIGH SPECS?! wtf is the goddamn deal with having specs higher than the moon? so what if more people can play the games you play? elitism makes me so pissed...
I like you. You explained why PC gamers like higher specs without resortin to bein a dbag. I salute you...mostly because its far better than my argument of "Because I like my shiny stuff to be friggin shiny!"ZombieGenesis said:Actually (to the both of you) you'll find a lot of PC gamers requests for higher marks are because of a few simple connections.Nikolaz72 said:What is the reason PC gamers cannot play games like Halo or Little Big Planet. Firstly, building a gaming PC is -NOT- nearly as expensive as people claim. Mine cost about the same as the ps3 did on launch, and it's a bloody titan. Of course if you're building and you happen to see a very good part sold at the same price as your budget, you buy it. That of course means you can run better games, meaning you experience and enjoy things at a higher and more demanding quality.
Perfect example, Metro 2033 at maximum visuals, lighting, shadow, 16 x AA and many other complicated terms.
Because of that, and through no 'evil' on the gamers behalf, they have a powerful machine. Is it so wrong to want games that really kick in to make the most of that?
Sure there are console games, and I don't mind console ports that share the same quality between all versions, but I'd at least like a button that said "press here for extreme quality management" as opposed to the 'low/medium/high' switch you get in regular ports.
So yeah... pretty much that. Nothing elitist about it.

I hate my gaming hobby for this. Tech bought now is obsolete in just a few years. And it's always the goddamn videocard. Never do they push the audiocard to it's max or whatever. I match everything on that list but the videocard. Sigh.
Well I guess DNF won't come to me then this yearI think I can survive the wait tho.
Because by developing for consoles, you limit yourself in what you can do because of the inferior hardware; a problem that wouldn't happen if you developed for PC and then ported it to consoles.Azaraxzealot said:wtf is your problem? looks like high-ass specs once again like you pc gamers love so as to keep the dirty peasants who can't afford your super graphics cards and have the deep ass wallets to afford that shit

Ditto - my jaw actually dropped when I read the original article and saw such a blatant insult to a large portion of this website's traffic sitting there plain as day. What is it with this attitude? PC gamers and console gamers share *the same hobby*. It's like arguing whether needlepoint is better than tapestry. Go with what you like.flakmagnet said:As a gamer of 20 years, I'd love to know the same, unfortunately, it will probably stop as soon as console fanboys stop flaming each other.believer258 said:I'm tired of being put down as less of a gamer because I play mostly on consoles. I understand that this wasn't meant that way, but it still seems like every time I turn around there's a PC gloat going around. I'm not taking a huge offense at this one, but PC gamers, please stop putting me down for preferring an analog stick to a mouse. By the way, I do own several games on PC and do play them.Andy Chalk said:Button-mashers have it easy when it comes to buying videogames. All they have to worry about is which logo is on the box. End of the day, we all like the same pastime. I prefer controller from the sofa as it's cheaper, more comfortable and more of my friends play online on the 360. I'm not going to reccomend to all of them they get a PC with high enough spec just so they can play with me. I like the occasional PC game, but 360 is my preference. Let's stop the elitism (and the console fanboy wars too while we're wishing on rainbows here!)
OT: specs not too high is a good thing for me, more of my mates may give it a try, I may get the PC version. We shall see.
