Simple topic (probably not original) in any form of fiction, games, movies, books etc. What decision made you go "what... really!?"

For me, it'd be in Red Dwarf. The episode Legion.

This is in Season 6. The crew has lost Red Dwarf, and is chasing it with increasing loss of hope across the galaxy in Star Bug. I liked these series because it really explored the sci fi element of the universe. My problem is the Legion episode.

Basically, the crew are lured to this strange facility populated by a masked man named Legion. The crew spend the night in the facility. It is full of wonderfully advanced technology, a seemingly unlimited supply of food and drink. Each crew member gets a room personalized to his tastes (e.g. Lister's has an electric guitar, a selection of his favorite movies, two dozen eight packs of beer and a spare pair of sneakers in the ice box) There is apparently a cyber park that allows you to virtually generate any point in history and do anything with anyone you wish.

The catch is that Legion is a combined entity of all the people in the facility. It's not like he's draining them, or anything, it's just as long as they are there he is alive. The crew escapes because they have to chase down Red Dwarf. Why? Because it has a large (but finite) source of food, and it means escape from the cramped quarters of Star Bug. However, in past episodes, it has been remarked that none of the crew enjoys being trapped on Red Dwarf, and yet they still leave this chance at a great life for no valid reason.

But then what would happen to the plot?
Let it slide, mate.
Let it slide.
I've got nothing popping out at the moment, I'll think about it and edit an answer.

every single horror movie, ther hear a strange sound in the next room, and go in there, get killed. Also, do enemy character count? In any FPS, 20 or so bad guys, I kill 19 of them, the last one keeps shooting at me with no fear, even though I just murdered all 19 of his friends with no challenge

But that episodes of Red Dwarf is funny!
OT- How about when in Loz Wind Waker, Tingle make you go rupees hunting so you can buy his stupid maps? Why can I threaten him to give me the map for free after all I got to stop Gannon!

Maybe it's a bit of an odd thing and seemingly wrong, but it's got to do with knowing that you're stuck with Legion, and that there are things Legion can't actually do for the crew of Red Dwarf while stuck on his station.

He can't make Lister's big plan happen. He can't make Rimmer's career goals or any amount of real success happen to him. He can't give the Cat anything to mate with. And Kryten? Come to think of it, Kryten doesn't have any selfish desire, so he would ironically be the only one who'd REALLY be at home.

In Final Fantasy 10, probably the voice actor for Tidus. Especially for that goddamn laughing scene. That embarrasses me just thinking about it.

"darths and droids" points this out in Star Wars episode 1. While on the robot ship in the start Obi Wan and Gui Gon Gin decide to split up and go on different transports. Why? Never explained. They just go really really really really lucky that their transports landed withing walking distance of eachother.
Also: why did the Confederation land on the opposite side of the planet from where the capitol was?

In Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway one of the characters is named Frank and they are in Holland in a city. The Germans attack and start bombing stuff. To which Frank runs off, alone, into a city full of Germans, to go save a girl he knew for maybe 5 minutes. He doesn't even speak Dutch. Naturally he and the girl are killed.

In Spoony's, Nostalgia Critic's and others reviews (especially Spoony and Final Fantasy) every ten minutes someone does something crazy stupid.

And whoever thought up the latest Xcom and Brothers in Arms sequels.

Shion in Xenosaga 3, every decision she made in that game was a dumb character decision and I resented her the entire game for it.

J.K. Rowling randomly declaring Dumbledore as gay. I have nothing wrong with gay people, but that made no sense.

Vaan in FF12. It was like playing FFX from Rikku's point of view.

The man who constantly wears a purple cloak, half moon spectacles and often speaks about some of his very close relationships with other men in his past life and having never had a wife or relationship with a female is gay...

Stop the presses.
