I've found the A.I. in DoW to be pretty thick at times.
"nonono, i specifically told u to go down the right path, not the left one with all the mines and turrets down there, come back, no dont jus tstand the looking around. Aaargh, now ur all dead and only have yourselves to blames,"

I will have to go with AGe of empires, on easy they will provide no challengde, but on medium they will serve your arse, and even more so on hard.
The Delta force games alwasy had crap Ai as well, you could stand in front of a bad and they would take about 4 seconds to notice you, another 4 to shout a warning, then they might fire a poorly aimed shot. Even the Taleban will conserve ammo and fire 1 shot every 5 mins, i mean come on!

I can't believe nobody's mentioned Jericho. Worst AI I have ever experienced...and they're your fucking teammates. You have to switch between characters just to walk them back out of the gunfire that they're strolling into.

personally i think its the marine A.I in halo
Well, the Marine AI in Halo was actually incredibly advanced. In Halo 2 the AI was made aware of other NPCs and in Halo 3 was increased in both complexity and power. After all the AI has to match the idea that MC is the most powerful character.

Its a tie for me between the survivors in Dead Rising and the lemmings from Lemmings, both of whom lack even the most basic of survival instincts. Of course, the point of lemmings is to guide these suicidal critters to safety however, I feel that even a grief stricken human being, trapped in a mall and surrounded by the walking dead, would have the sense to follow the corpse strewn path I created instead of taking a scenic route directly through a legion of the decaying bastards. Or, when I am in the process of clearing said path, the survivor should allow my character breathing room for sledgehammer blows and katana strikes. The product of repeated survivor maulings or fatal friendly fire, funnily enough, deteriorates my own will to live, so perhaps feelings are contagious.

AC Silent Line teachable Arena AI.

Yes, yes... "Garbage in, garbage out."

It's just that isn't the case, I'm a damn fine pilot, the AI just doesn't mesh with my style.

ARENA AI: "Gleeerrn!!" *Refusal to boost, refusal to stop boosting, firing without a lock-on, not paying attention to radar...the list goes on*

Unsurprisingly, I'm terrible at AI "programming" in AC Forumla Front too...thank god for Nu-AC control.

*Reads title, giggles*

Heehee...dumdest.

I gotta say Left 4 Dead, surviors are pretty crappy at times. Healing when not needed, especially in Expert mode. Getting in my shots, giving me pills in a fire fight ,ignoreing me while I die and they have tea, also one that hard to believe im saying but they are too good at versus mode they snipe almost any zombie 2 kilometers away its hard to have fun as the zombie when your facing the AI.

Even though I love these games, Operation Flashpoint and ArmA have some pretty craptastic AI at times.

Sometimes I will see an M113 cruising through the countryside only to get stuck on a tree and spin its tracks forever. I also loved how the AI in Operation Flashpoint seemed to be terrified of bridges. It seemed that no matter how much one would beg, they simply would not walk over a bridge! There were also times where it seemed I would have to beg my AI squad to fire on enemy soldiers even though were were being fired on.

While there are occasions where the AI seems to have left the, "I," out of, "AI," there are also times where it is surprisingly good.

I have witnessed an AI controlled soldier actually take higher ground with a sniper rifle just to get better shots, and I have been saved by the quick reflexes of a friendly AI bot when I found myself staring down the barrel of an enemy AK74.

I think it's hit-or-miss... Especially since these games are meant to be played with other people more than AI.

Also: Check out this video that demonstrates the AI in Boiling Point: Road to Hell. It's pretty funny!

People complain about the Marine AI in Halo all the time. But to me, it always seemed like the problem was that the Marines were extraordinarily weak.

Oblivion gets my vote. Enemies just charge right at you. Allies attack everything in sight, sometimes even if they are unarmed people that you are supposed to be rescuing.

The Koreans from Crysis. They are not the dumbest AI ever made, but for a game with such a technical success (especially after Far Cay's AI) I thought my enemies won't stand perfecly still in the middle of the road while they reload and Im one second from running over them.

Halo war units. I tell them to go after a giant scarab and instead they attack a grunt. Then they line up in a straight line and i cant get reinforcements to them.

well in terms of dialogue, i would say that most ubisoft game AIs win this one

I've been playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2 recently and they say the dumbest stuff. i would unload a whole clip of my machine gun into the wall and they yell "I HEARD SOMETHING"

otherwise, yeah the survivors from Dead Rising

I can't believe that people have picked out Halo and now Crysis for having dumb ai - seriously, what sort of standards are you going with here?

Wow. So they can't predict the future in a way that occurs naturally to humans, but they will put down suppressing fire is you go to cover/cloak and flank you if there's enough of them. And hey, at least they do reload! Or tactical change to a pistol if they're still engaged! I mean, when do you see a tactical change in any other modern game? Exactly.

And Halo - please people, stop jumping on the band wagon with this Halo hate, get your own damn opinion based on facts. Halo AI allows enemies to clamber on top of objects, put down suppression fire, flush you out with grenades, find their own paths through areas etc.
Even the marine AI isn't bad at all. Ok, so they basically move from objective to objective, but as they do so they are free to stop to engage, crouch, lob frags, navigate around obstacles, roll away from grenades and vehicles - what more do you want?! Ok, so perhaps they aren't the best at avoiding friendly fire but to tote them up as one of the worst AIs when there's the incredibly crude CoD ai, set to 'spawn, run to waypoint, shoot, die', pre-set and triggered to death and terminally un-dynamic.

In fact here should go all the strategy games that follow a simple rinse-and repeat strategy, following preset paths with preset armies indefinitely (Generals I'm looking at you). Hell, DoW II didn't even bother with an AI, just the barest reference to a script to produce the most expensive unit available and attempt to capture resource points - which you can't do with tanks -.-U

Heres another one: Arthas from World of Wacraft. And im talking about Arthas in the Culling of Stratholme.

He'd keep on running and pulling new groups. The last street in strat is a pain thanks to that.
