Oh yes, the feeling happens often.

I call it 'OZ', for Over Zealous.
Mainly so I can chant in a sing-song voice 'We're off to see the wizard', and other such tunes.

Yes, every time.
But I know the cure : walkthroughs.
He's talking about dungeon crawlers, most dungeon crawlers have random generated maps
Ergo, not walkthroughs for which direction to go.
I believe he said:
"When I am playing an rpg with NON-RANDOM, but complicated dungeons (the standard ones with chests, random encounters, boss fights, secret rooms and such) I often come across the following situation:"
I'm not sure if I understood wrong though.
I love this post, it made me laugh.

Anyway, I get this all the time because I am a type A completionist /// conqueror. I want to find everything, beat everything, accomplish everything, save everyone, have the best equipment, defeat the hardest monsters, and head back to town with the biggest pile of gold.

So let's call it badassery.

There is a way. Stick to the right wall, and every time you get to turn, turn right. If there's a dead end, turn around and do it again. Sooner or later you will find the exit. Works all the time.

Though that ocdd was good
but OCDCD OR OCDSD
(Crawl) or (Searching)

I use guide maps - very useful in those FFXII dungeons! I get nervous when I don't know where I am on a map. I hate losing out on the good stuff.

Oh, gosh. RPG games aren`t the only ones with this disease. Try playing Wolfenstein 3D without going into EVERY SINGLE EFFING ROOM!! [small] Of course you can, but then I can`t call you a gamer. [/small]

I get scared in the Oblivion and Fallout 3 dungeons (okay fine Fallout doesn't really have dungeons but you know what I mean). I actually shat myself when a ghoul jumped out on me from behind. Way more scary than all these 'horror' games milling around.

I don't give a toss about loot in the extra rooms, but I will explore everywhere to look for information, stuff that reveals more about the world I'm in, or unlocks more sidequests which can potentially reveal more about the world I'm in. I'll pass over the sword of +12 arsekicking to find a scroll that tells me about a war that happened 300 years earlier.

Context! That's what I crave with my explorations.

haha, I know exactly what you're talking about. I would do the same thing in Oblivion, subconsciously picking the side paths that I guessed would be dead ends so that I could go back and try the other paths. But with todays games and dialogue choices, I do the same in conversations, like Dragon Age and Kotor2.

The "Tales of" series is what has given me this wonderful anxiety, and now I feel the need to search everywhere ever in order not to miss something.
