So I turned on the TV last night, and a relatively new tv show was on The show is a spin-off of the long running Dutch variant of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, but with questions about pictures instead of just questions. The show is called The Big Picture. That's nothing to worry about, it is an English phrase. Then I saw the show's logo, and it looked like this:

http://imgur.com/aJwcSWJ

I mean, that's the same font and layout of our trusted The Big Picture by Moviebob!

On Moviebobs new site it says that The Escapist has the rights to his show so I thought I'd share this here.

This logo?

Sorry, but I don't see the similarity at all - and even if there was one, I would guess it to be purely coincidental. I highly doubt anyone even remotely related to some Dutch commercial network to be familiar with "The Big Picture" by Billy Chapman.

Could be coincidence. Then again, it may just be a lazy marketing team that simply googled "Big Picture" and based their design off the first hit.

It's abit similar but not an exact copy. The font are all the same in that image but the Big in Bob title is a different font.

Pretty much this. Bob's work isn't nearly popular enough to be ripped off by a studio. He isn't IHateEverything level of popularity.

So everything that uses a big font and puts words under each other is a rip-off of each other?

Nah man, it ain't. I doubt they actually know The Big Picture anyway.

I don't think calling a show 'The Big Picture' and then putting an emphasis on the word 'big' in the logo is all too original. Seems like kind of an obvious thing to do, in my opinion.

Yeah, it's similar, but so is a triangle compared to another triangle.

I see how the positioning of the words is identical, but how exactly can you say that it's the same font? Look at the style of lettering in all 3 letters of BIG. They're not at all the same, and in especially in MovieBob's case the letters of "BIG" have a more individual design. The font that the game show chose is hardly that unique.

I see nothing wrong with that as it's sort of an unoriginal/obvious design choice. "Hey, let's make the dot in the letter "i" a word we can put over the word containing that letter "i""

Sort of like, using numbers for letters. F3AR F4NTASTIC etc

I'm sure you can find other examples for this.

This.

Happens all the time, sadly. The font isn't the same, but there are obvious parallels in design cues here, ones that would be hard to explain away.

That being said, there's probably very little legally that you could, or would be worth, doing about it.

Bare in mind that while it may seem obvious, if you task someone to create a logo for something called 'The Big Picture' unaware of either of these two logos, I highly doubt that you'd get a result that similar 999 times out of 1000.

It's a pretty basic design. Plenty of people have probably thought of it. I can't even count the number of times I've seen this used by different companies:
