Glad to see Berserk is getting another chance at getting a game, the Dreamcast one was fairly entertaining.

As for the teaser, it's in bad taste, and generally a bad scene to use to showcase the game. While yes, the rape of Casca is most likely the most iconic, memorable, and shocking event in Berserk, it's something that also has a build-up, it's so memorable and despicable because we are invested in the character and the plot. Without the circumstances surrounding it, it simply looks like your average hentai rape scene.

This game is in my Most Wanted List now.
Yes, it suck a little that they show just so bland a very special event from the manga/anime, but for the people who don't know anything about it..............is still make no sense.
Like, yes, the fans understand the concept of this scene in the trailer, but what about the others? What will think about this? Dystany Warriors with a lot of sex rape porn? Tentacles? Jesus.
If the target audience was indeed ONLY Berserk fans, then is good. For the others, just "sex sells" trailer.

But I digress, still excited and waiting to see how the heck will show some very mature parts of the story......like the one time which some bees attack the hero......OOOooOOOooOOoh I would LOVE to see the end cutscene of the fight!!!

I know very little about Berserk, but same with Gundam when I first played the Gundam Warriors games, now I love the series.

Though I wonder how DW this game will be

Report says it's coming to PC? Yaaaaaaaas.

I actually haven't started reading it yet, but I love the monster designs I've seen from the manga and the Dreamcast/PS2 games, so I really hope they capture that pretty well. If I can't have Bloodborne, I can at least have Berserk.

I was the same way with Fist of the North Star. Became a fan after playing Kens Rage.

Oh my God, I'm fucking stoked for this. I never saw this coming. Cancel E3, friends, all I really needed to know about was a Berserk game. I don't even like Dynasty Warriors all that much, but I love me some Berserk. Goddamn.

I'm not sure what was up with that teaser, though. Why would they show off

Casca's rape scene

and not some big epic battle? I was under the impression that Dynasty Warriors was a cheesy battle series, and not a rape simulator. While I'm fine with a game that focuses on some of the set pieces of the golden age, I'm not sure I want to play an eclipse level. That would ruin aspects of the story for me. I'm also not sure how they would handle anything post-eclipse, since the war is over.

Is it a Dynasty Warriors game with a different theme (eg. Gundam, Hyrule Warriors) or is it a different kind of game (Souls?) with a Dynasty Warriors theme?

I suppose because it is the most brutal, recognizable and heart rending scene within the golden age arc, especially for those who haven't read the manga.
Also it's japan, they aren't quite as prudish as we are, given that this trailer contains no English text aside form the numeric system I'd say it's a safe bet this wasn't chosen for western sensibilities.
As for an eclipse level I'm not against watching in horror as my troops and allied officers die in seconds but base control would be stupid.

It's prudish to be disturbed by horrible demon tentacle rape hentai? I thought that was the reaction Miura was going for.

In any case, I don't think an eclipse battle would even work. I mean, that's the point after all. It's a total slaughter. I'm not even sure how you would capture that sense of horror in a dynasty warriors game. Maybe Fromsoft could pull it off, but that's about it.

This is the same publisher that put out DOAX3, and I absolutely would not be surprised if they're trying to court controversy again.

Oh, Jesus, that's all we need. Bouncy boob physics on Casca during battle. Why can't berserk adeptations receive the pedigree they deserve?

I honestly don't want to see Berserk become the center of some controversy. Though, given the nature of the story, I'm somewhat surprised it hasn't garnered more controversy already.

I really enjoyed what they did with the first Fist of The North Star Warriors adaption, and they've shown skill with Arslan and One Piece too. I'm willing to hope that they go nuts with this, and it's a hell of a ride.

To some people yes. Though I meant in general they are far more willing to do and explore weird sexual things, which the end result of would be that we appear more prudish.
Anyway japan is the culture that is almost singularly responsible for and also the primary consumer of that genre of porn.
In any case, I don't think an eclipse battle would even work.
I suppose it would work like some of those supposed to loose moments in games. Spend the rest of your short ingame life fighting against apostles that are far more powerful then you until you finally succumb.
not the most fun thing in the world but as you said, if anyone could pull it off Fromsoft could.

It's tasteless, tone-deaf, and pathetic.
It's x100 worse if you're familiar with the work too. The teaser undermines the gravity, maturity, and mood of the scene. It's a mockery, put simply.

That's really only the case if we limit the discussion to the weird and the disturbing and assume that otakus are representative of wider Japanese society.
I was thinking of that thing i heard about people humping air in public spaces and shit like that.
and having far weirder things I've seen come from that island in general.
Fair enough, either way.
I was thinking that a lot of the people geared up for berserk in japan would be grognard neckbeards as /tg/ would put it.
I dropped that out and went for sweeping statement to my own determent, i don't know enough about japan to make detailed commentary on it.
I mean, sure, maybe people in the West are likely more skeeved out at tentacle rape and lingerie-clad children, but we also happen to not censor genitals in our porn or arrest women for making vagina-shaped canoes as art pieces.
Don't those censorship laws date back to meji when japan was being westernized/modernized a bit and isn't tentacle porn popular because it goes through those censorship laws?
Actually yeah the canoe thing reminds me of the Victorian British public decency laws and things like that.
But even then there's still a lack of universality of those laws no? I've heard that japan has had a problem spreading those out federally because it was or still is a protectorate but i don't know.

I'm so mixed with this one. Guts is so awesome, and his tendency to go up against large numbers of enemies all at once seems suitable for a dynasty warriors game. However, I'm not really a fan of the Dynasty Warriors franchise. I prefer tension to power fantasy. Regardless, I can't think of a better type of game to put him in. He's a berserker, so mashing square and triangle against a bunch of enemies with little regard for defense seems like the best way to capture the Guts feel. Perhaps I just wasn't meant to play games as Guts.

I've read through your post and i think you might have been talking past me but I think we did that the last time we talked too.

Possibly, though I'm not familiar enough with the history of obscenity laws.
I know me neither, the only real reason i can see the similarity is this is what or close to why they snagged Alan Turning on. Britian finally apologized for his chemical castration.

Though even before the Meiji they weren't exactly a sexual paradise, what with locking all their prostitutes into guarded pleasure districts that they couldn't leave and keeping the "wrong" people from ever visiting them.
which is reasonable, i should however remind you that at no point did i consider this a "sexual paradise".
Now what matters is the boots on the ground, i don't know if japan had the same dislike for human skin Victorian britian had nor the same dislike for sex that saint Augustine of Hippo put into Christianity (he is more or less responsible for the doctrine of original sin or so I've heard would not want to be a theologian).

No idea, I'd just prefer it if people would stop acting as if Japan is this utopia of sexual freedom because some of their subcultures produce and consume weird anime porn and are obsessed with lingerie-clad child characters.
Also just why would you waste your time on something like that?
People are going to believe what they are going to believe what they want to believe. If they want to be degenerates and worship japan like that let them, their loss when they set their weeb feet on it's shores.
Anyway well that wasn't my intention and is largely unrelated here.
And if the internet wasn't like it was I'd be surprised we are discussing in rough the merits of using the term Prudish to describe our culture when discussing why the trailer was arguably not designed with the west in mind. I don't doubt that you wouldn't have anything to say if i had phrased it as japan neckbeards are jaded in general and such actions do not elicit strong revulsion in them. But that's a mouthful.
The broad strokes remain the same.
See I say the west in broad strokes because I'm pretty sure there are far worse things coming out of the slav countries.
Regardless you understand that this subculture is one of their most popular exports and as much as i dislike the weebs good animations and games do from from that export. Also we are dealing, are generally assumed to be dealing with and in this context dealing with west nerd v east nerd not fuckings normies. So as far as i can see it's fine for people to indicate that a subculture is more prudish than enough when dealing with roughly approximate subcultures.

And that the West was some prudish convent because they're not the biggest fans of overtly sexualized children or porn entirely focused on raping women.

I have a thousand things to say about this but it mostly boils down to:
NO, you know that nobody actually holds that direct opinion and if you've actually met people like that then you've spent too long in places i fear to tread.
And Dude there are far more sexual aberrant in Weeb works than just bestiality-rape things and pedo-loli-trash, going for the emotionally polarizing is just low hanging fruit, it disrespects me, it disrespects you and anyone else who reads this.
Also to reiterate I'd argue that the japanese weebs are thankfully far more prudish then the parts of the furry fandom that have been highlighted to me but all is degenerate.

You could play it on higher difficulty.
