I think all games should have to be rated E or they are not released. Might encourage some decent gameplay rather than filling that void with explosions and mild cursing parading as character development.
Part of me agrees, the other REALLY likes my gore-infested games.

Im across the board. I love bloody shoot 'em ups, but I like games like Spryo, Kindom Hearts, The FF series (Teen rated that last one, but whatever.) On one side, I think we should push the envelope. Developers should stop pussy-footing around and completely piss off the congressmen. I want a game to come out, that makes bible-belt mothers scream and the FCC shit bricks. Games like Postal are doing a good thing, but they need help. The unneeded, facistic tower of censorship stand tall. Mr. Gorbechev, bring this wall down . . . er, I don't think that applies here.

Okay, I hate censorship and love violent game, but at the same time, I LOVE variety, I play games of various generes, various moods, various themes. I don't want to play the same damn game every time. Yes, violent games are awesome, but where did all the light hearted stuff go? I mean, it didn't go anywhere, but what's there just got crappier. I love my shoot-em-ups, but I don't want to be restricted to just that. I don't think violence in videogames are any sort of problem, but that doesn't mean that I don't wish a choice for parents who think otherwise, especially those that actually take the time to look at the ESRB ratings.

Banjo Kazooie and its sequel for the N64 is one of my favorite games of all time and is rated E. With the increase in graphics and the shifting of the different consoles to respective markets E rated games are hard to find next to Teen or Mature games. That doesn't mean that the E rated games out there are not fun or even that they are fun, but if you are a xbox360, PS3, or computer gamer and you avoid children's toystores you probably won't see many E rated games. My little brother has a Wii and virtually all he has are E rated games, some of them are fun, some suck.

as much as i disagree with you, i think it would be cool to see what kind of games we would get if that were the case.

Mario Wii is the only game i have that is E.
I take that back, i also have GRID, but i know that sports games really don't count.

You have got to be kidding me.

Do you know how easily developers slap a teen rating on a game?

Enjoy Barbies Horse Adventures

I'll be playing Left 4 Dead 2

Viva Pinata. That's really good, and rated "G" (For general Exhibition, the Australian equivalent of "E")

Also a lot of racing games are rated "G", and there some great stuff there (Project Gotham Racing 3, Colin McRae: DiRT)
Damn you, Viva Pinata ninja!

Viva Pinata?
And you, you Pinata ninja. Damn you!

OT: Colin McRae: DIRT 2. It's a racing game so I'm unsure if it falls under your sports category or not.

Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet, Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, Burnout Paradise, Braid, Super Mario Galaxy, etc.

There are alot of good E games, unfortunately too many people ignore them for whatever the next great FPS is.

This is largely due to the fact that any game in which anything dies in some way is guarenteed at least a T rating these days. Hell, HALO has an M rating.
