E-readers

So I'm considering getting a kindle, I'm an avid reader and always read on the commute into school but carrying round a book takes up space in my bag which i don't really have spare.

So really just want to know what everyone thinks about the kindle/ other e-readers. Are they worth it and which would you recommend? Is the reading experience the same as a book? weight, screen size battery life, availability of compatible e-books, etc. Any answers would be appreciated.

I personally love my Kindle and getting books in a matter of seconds is awesome. The only problem I ever encounter is that they do not generally add new releases right away but maybe that is just because im impatient. Anyway the weight is less than a paperback, the battery life is fantastic especially if you turn the wireless off (seriously the thing can last a month) and the screen size is pretty nice.

The kindle is good. It's light, you can pretty much take it anywhere, and the battery life is awesome. I'm glad i bought it, since carrying around books (for school mostly) can be rather annoying. But ya, if you like reading a lot an ereader sounds suitable for you.

It's not the same as reading a paperback, well, mostly because you can't physically flip the pages, but otherwise, it's pretty much the same thing. It's also easy to read.

random note : I also have a kobo ereader (i think they only sell them in Canada?) and i love it as well. The battery life seems better on the kobo than the kindle, but both are very good. The kobo is less expensive, so if you drop it on the floor, or it breaks there goes $100, instead of...actually i forget how much kindle's cost....so nevermind that. My point being, they're a good investment.

I use kindle for iPhone (free), Readdle Docs for iPhone and Dropbox for iPhone.

Allows you to read any PDF with text reflow so that it is very easy to read on the iPhone.
