I realize that the E10+ rating has been around for quite a while now, but was it necessary to make in the first place? From my point of view, a majority of E10+ games are suitable for everyone under the age of ten, as well as above, rendering E10+ rather useless.

Opinions, anyone?

Well they don't think it is suitable for anyone under 10, thats their point of view. I have never seen a 10+ game before, just MA15+ and R18+.

E10+ is a rating used only in the US, I think, though I thought there might be ratings like it elsewhere.

Well some Parents may find it Useful, however i find that the Ratings system in general Even For movies is Skitso, and even then it only works if the Parents are the ones Who Enforce it, if a 10 year old is playing a M rated game and the parents dont care, then E10+ has the Same Usefulness as wheels on a jet pack, however if the parent is Actually concerned with the content there children are Exposed too, then it Is Useful in given the Parents a guideline to work with.

the Movie Rating system seems to not follow this like games, feels like a form of Censorship and telling the Editer that the movie has to follow There guidelines(in appeals your not allowed to compare your film with others thus robbing you of defense)

Well I haven't seen it in Australia, but I don't go and buy every single game of the shelf!

I'm curious, what games are E10+ in the US?

I do think that games/movies should have a clear indication that tells if it is not appropriate to some young consumers. Something like a clealy marked box on the back cover with a number. The amount of different age limits could even be higher, why not just put a limit for every age (I know this would be pointless, but that is not the point).

The thing I really would like to see, is that someone would actually follow these age restrictions. Here in Finland K-18 (kielletty alle 18-vuotiailta = forbidden from people under 18) is the only legally enforced age limit, others are just suggestive. I would just hope that parents who buy games for their children would actually follow these limits, and not just complain afterwards.

They actually just a month ago conducted a series of fake purchases to see how many shops would sell K-18 games to kids who were 14 and 15. A year ago apprx. 50%-60% sold a game to underage players, but this year the amount was only about 30%.

I suppose some games younger than 10 kids couldn't do. By age 10 you have some math and writing skills which may be essential to gameplay. You don't really have too much math skill as a 4 year old.

The only one I can think of without referring to a list, or my game collection, is Donkey Kong Jungle beat. I'm sure you can find a list somewhere though.

well today just at the store one mom was asking to the guy what game to buy, the mom was holding some psp race game and was asking, is this game good? the guy told the lady, yes it is good but this one is better it has violence and blood but this is the top seller here.

at the end the lady took the violent game i believe it was killer "something" but it was a mature game... so what happens when the box says "mature" and when the guy in the store tell the mom the game has "violence"?

i would not matter if they put a E10+ or a 18 only... i dont know at the end they are suggestions, not a rule and its the parents job to decide to follow or not.

They usually just throw a 10+ on their if theres a "curse word" on the game in question thats supposed to be kiddish. I remeber playing Shadow the Hedgehog(yes u may hate me for buying it) and he would say damn when he died and it was rated E10+ jsut because of that.
