Is anyone out there watching E3? Impressions anyone? Who had the best conference? Who had the best line-up of games? And what are the games you are looking forward to most?

I had a similar thread made a couple of days ago, except it was the best conference bit. Whatever

Sony IMHO had the best conference, they showed a ton of games being inFamous, R+C Quest for booty, Flower, Super Star Dust for PSP, Resistance 2, Resistance for PSP, PixelJunk Eden, MAG, God of War 3, LITTLE BIG PLANET, Fat Princess(?), and some other ones that escape me at the moment.

I personally don't know why people say M$ had the best conference, they were more of the average conference. I do admit they started off strong, with a demos for some neat games but i believe about half of the demos were multiplatform, with only Gears of War 2 and Fallout 3 demos interesting me a bit (Fable 2 demo sucked ass, waaayy to short)

Personally i want to see more gameplay from games on the PS3 like Killzone 2 and Little FUCKING Big Planet. The demo of Killzone 2 was pretty cool

Fable 2 looks great. Yes the demo was short, but we don't want to know too much before we play it. It'll spoil the fun.

I have been watching small bits on inside xbox, so really i have only seen microsoft bits.

great games announced

FFXIII = fairly instant win
The last Remnant looks awsome aswell
Lips looks like it could be ok.
Fable 2, the co op system looks fantastic

The whole new dashbourd doesn't actually look that bad, it looks like a steal of the wii and the psp, but overall a good thing in my opinion.

I tried watching but couldn't bear it. I think all three companies fired their PR guys. Everything I saw was unbearably cheesy.

I say Microsoft is 'winning' the show, simply because they got FF 13.
when everybody started going bannanas over this, i thought that they meant that FF13 was going to be exclusive to 360. after reading that all that happened was that FF13 went multi-platform...

well...

big whoop.

i mean, i get why 360 owners are happy and i'm happy for them. but i don't see how it's that big of a deal. i mean Bioshock on the PS3 didn't get all these "nail in the coffin", "take that Sony" type of threads.

Microsoft made this year's E3, they presented and demo-ed some great games to show gameplay footage. And best of all, almost all of them are hitting this year.
And Portal: Still alive and the Fallout 3 DLC console exclusive? Awesome.

The FFXIII announcement and "Live 2.0" had a big impact too.

Nintendo was unbearable cheesy. dragging out your out of touch chief executive officers to play fantasy marching band is about as appealing as prompting the room to do the macarana.

most of all, i wish the CEOs and Presidents of these companies would stop grandstanding and presenting at these events.

We get it, you guys are too busy balancing check books, buying out devs, and firing people to have any time to actually play the games you produce. We understand that if Hostess gave you a signing bonus and better pay you'd jump out of the industry and sell twinkees. And it's fine, we need your scarry boiler room stock tactics to increase the worth of your company so you can afford to spend money on bigger crazier Next Gen videogames even though it's more cost efficient to create games for the Wii.

But don't stand on that stage and pretend to us that you give a shit about videogames or that you are evenly remotely close to being a casual gamer. It shows your contempt towards the industry, your ego, and most of all it makes you look rediculous.

Pretty underwhelming, but that's not terribly surprising now that the consoles have transitioned from next-gen "wow" to current gen "impress me, I dare you"

The drop in and out Co-Op that was shown looked really awsome, although i feel i will be slighty less 'seemless' than what they showed it as.

But i have the ability to chat up my friends wife, it would just be too funny

Well, FF 13 will be awesome, but the point I was really trying to make was that Microsoft stole Sony's biggest exclusive. BioShock was already on the PC anyway, and even if it wasn't it's 1) already out 2) not the XBox's biggest exclusive (or wouldn't be, anyway). I'm not trying to say that the PS3 doesn't have games, I'm saying that when such a big game that was supposed to be exclusive goes multiplat, it's a big deal.

That's a great point. I was wondering why I felt a little underwhelmed. I think it's because the bar has been set so high, and there's no new system or peripherals to dazzle this year.

But I think that's a good thing - we do need to focus on the games more.

I am disappointed that many games seem very similar to each other. There are a lot of post-apocalyptic games. A lot of futuristic shooters. Mirror's Edge gives me hope.

Watching the conferences, I'm getting really annoyed, especially with Sony, but with Microsoft too. Everyone is showing all their fancy graphics and such. As a game? I don't give a good gorram about any of that. I was more than happy with PS2/XBX level graphics. I just want some damn gameplay in my games. I want a good combat system from Squenix. I want Insomniac to make more fun guns (sorely lacking from the last game). I want weird dynamics introduced to my games, like in Okami with the brush techniques.

Actually, Okami is the best game I played since 'next-gen' happened. It was like Zelda, but better, and with a story that.... (god, I am laaaame) made me cry my eyes out at the end. And it didn't have hyper-realistic graphics. Instead, it was simple and gorgeous in its painted style.

I was watching E3 for more like Okami. Apparently Okami was a fluke. I am very disappointed.

I would like to make a point about the whole "Graphix arn't always important!" stuff, it's not that they're showing off the amazing graphics it's that anything less than minimum standard of what the system's are capable are basically unforgivable as developers can do much better than that.

Obviously, it depends on the art style, but if you're doing a shooter with the gray and brown stuff it had better look pretty while showing the grayness and browness.

I found myself in love with the L32 Fareye in Resistance, maybe the reason you didn't think there were enough creative weapons is because in the R+C serieses the weapons upgraded making them completely new weapons. But overall, i liked the weapons, hopefully we'll see more awesome guns in the sequal.
