I was really interested till I saw Kinect. I hate the kinect, I dont want one, I think its a gimmick and Even if I did buy one I dont have a massive living room like the rich folk in the advertisements. In fact I have a tiny living room.

Being able to stop and fish, cast magic, go where I want, perhaps manage my supplies in a bid to survive?

Sounds really interesting and expansive, so obviously Peter Molyneux is lying.

Anyone using this new technology to create an on-the-rails experience is a horse's ass. The whole idea is that it liberates you from a controller... to what? Now my hands are free, but my experience isn't.

When the demo first started I got my hopes up. thought they were finally going to kill the oracle so we could have stuff like suspense and plot twists in the story.

Then it turned out to be a rail shooter. To be fair, it looks like it could be good as far as rail shooters go with the added immersion from the Kinect but I don't really care for rail shooters in any form.

...Part of me wants a game where I can squeeze my hand in to a fist and choke a man force choke style...part of me wants a game where waving my hand around like a spastic casts magical spells.

None of me wants to save the seer and none of me wants to ride a mode of transport that costs five dollars to do around here.

If I could rename it I'd rename it Fable: Loading Screen.

This is precisely the reason why I think the Kinect is stupid, the hacks are cool though.

Kinda makes me think of Oregon trail.
To be a bit more positive, it might be a interesting game, if its cheap. It doesn't sound like it would make a very good full title, but its a interesting idea none the less. With all games, including the Fable games, I'll withhold my judgement until I actually see the game.

Like a couple of people here, just reading that description of it, I really like this. I don't understand why people are so hostile towards it. Maybe he's using the Fable brand because it's set in Albion; it doesn't have to be anything like 1, 2, and 3 which I think he's making clear with the lack of sequential numbering and the sub-title "The Journey".

If it's really a open huge world to take the journey in, and I get to live as a travelling mage and interact with natural spell casting through a "Inheritance Cycle" like magic system, then I'd be all for it; it sounds just like the kind of game I've been craving for years. A serious fantasy game that I can really sink into and be immersed in the world, even as I'm just riding in my cart. Of course they'll be more than just riding. Towns along to way, maybe trading for supplies and other things. However, I don't own a 360 or a Kinect so entry to this title would be steep, therefore it'll be passing me by unless it comes to PS3 or PC.

I was really enticed by the simple outlay of this title, and I'm baffled at need for immediacy and familiarity sparking anger. Not to say I don't understand the misgivings, Molyneux hasn't made a really good Fable since Lost Chapters, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Edit: After watching the video I retract most of my statements that support the combat in this being anything more than drivel. Additionally I hate the mage at the moment. The rail-movement is ridiculously inhibitive and completely negates the spirit of Fable as a series entirely. This is especially true given the joypad can be used to control the game, making the laughably weak rail shooting bit (for a rail shooter) even less forgiveable. If it was anything like I gathered from the OP I might have liked it but those things really sew doubt in my mind.

If I were a drinking man we would have taken shots every time Peter opened his big mouth at E3 this year, but he wasn't on horribly long. I don't even think he likes this one... that's a scary thought.

Call me crazy but I actually want to play this, moreso than any other Kinect game I've heard of. If it's a long journey through some awesome scenery with subtle motion control and cool, chilled out magic I'm definitely interested.

Blech... it seems like the only game genre that motion controls naturally fit are on-rails shooters, which is what he have light guns for. Or had, rather. What happend to those things anyway? They were fun. I have always maintained that the Kinect has some interesting possible uses, but none of them are in the form of regular games.
