But if we're talking about E3, well. Remember guys, Planetside 2 totally ripped off Halo.

I thought Uncharted was the game series that ripped off everyone else? Judging by what Yahtzee said anyway, I haven't actually played any of them.

This sort of games is not about impressing you by gameplay but by the amazing vista's and action scenes they deliver.
In fact, remember how you could climb around in Prince of Persia? It's a bit like uncharted, are you going to say Uncharted ripped off PoP? Of course not.

Star Wars 1313 is actually on my 'to watch'-list, because I have always liked the Star Wars art design, and having a game without the goddamn lightsabers is a fresh breath of air to me. Now let's hope it delivers on the big landscapes and action scenes.

And going by that post you're more than likely still far too young to be using anything meant for "big boys".

I'll admit that

reminded me of

.

But I'm not going to judge an entire game on one minute of footage. I doubt it would bother me too much, anyway. I like Uncharted. But it wasn't the first to do what it does.

Yes, and now it seems it's come full circle. I admit I haven't seen the Tomb Raider or The Last of Us bits, but from seeing the tiny bit of gameplay from Star Wars 1313 with animations blatantly ripped off Uncharted, I can see why the connection could be made.

Captcha: market forces. Could make a good super hero group name.

...No. These [http://games.ign.com/articles/121/1217887p1.html] are rip offs. Those games at E3 are definitely inspired by Uncharted, but I don't see the problem with that if it makes them good, Uncharted style games, not a shameless Uncharted with a new coat of paint.

No... Yeah, no...

No. Your opinion is wrong. nothing will ever rip off Uncharted, because Uncharted is the byproduct of Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones, Gears of War, and Assassin's Creed, and almost overy other 3rd person shooter you can think of.

Though the new Tomb Raider did look painfully unoriginal.

Uncharted just popularized the genre again much like, God of War popularized Beat em ups and GTA popularized non linear gaming, it is an annoying habit as I had to sit through shooter after shooter for the past few years getting to see adventure platformers on top again would be awesome it's one of my favorite genres the games you mention have as much in common as Megaman, Sonic or Mario. And as people have stated before to games have had elements similar to Uncharted before Uncharted and the last came from the same studio.

Please don't start up that 'everything is God of War' again.

Rip off is perhaps too strong a statement, but nor do I side with a naysayers. Everyone is far too quick to examine on the lowest common denominators of gameplay mechanics, when it's quite apparent that these game are in fact taking cues from the cinematic styling that Uncharted has popularized in the third-person shooter market.

Though perhaps it says more about the current gaming culture than "omg, let's copy Uncharted!"

It copied Assassin's Creed..? Didn't know a game that came out 3 days after AC copied it... Also Uncharted began being made back in 04, just after they finished Jak 3. Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones no doubt they got influence from, but Gears and AC? No. Also just because Gears and Uncharted are both third-person shooters, doesn't mean they play similar.

The parkour elements were very minimal in the first game, and come the second game it became clear that they decided to up the anty with the free running and climbing.

And I said Byproduct, not directly copying it. It's not an original game, but what it did do it did very well. But trying to say that something copied it?

Wtf, you mentioned a game that you say is a rip-off of Uncharted, yet both it and The Last of Us are by the same developer. All the other games you've mentioned are not rip-offs, just slightly inspired but it's mechanics.

Guys, I know Tomb Raider came before Uncharted. But the new game is a reboot. They're changing their course a lot from where they have been recently, and that course is to imitate Uncharted.
Don't bother, they aren't listening.

I agree with you, but I'd go further and say that there is virtually nothing I've seen at E3 that has even a tiny bit of originality.
I hope you haven't seen Watch Dogs.

Wowzers, two whole games of late 2012, early 2013 look kind of like Uncharted! LE GASP! (I'm not counting 'Last of Us' because it's by Naughty Dog and you can't rip-off yourself)

You, sir or madame, deserve a medal! PM me with your address, name of your first born child, and blood-type and I will send it!

Eh... While I don't particularly mind third person shooters, what I do mind is an overabundance of scripting, and that is most definitely the case with almost every game shown at E3. The games industry has a terrible habit of just "following the leader" and, sadly, it seems they've decided that Uncharted, one of the most derivative games ever made, is the leader.

*sigh*

Never played it = No one cares about it.

WAT.

OT: I've never played Uncharted myself, and I have yet to see the trailers of some of the games mentioned at E3. So I can't really say anything about whether they are rip offs or not. But I'm pretty sure there were other third person shooter/platformer games long before Uncharted was even a thought.

So I was thinking about some of the games shown at E3 and I noticed a trend in some of the biggest ones there. Some of them seem to share an incredibly striking resemblance to Uncharted.

Tomb Raider is Uncharted with a bow; The Last Of Us is Uncharted in post-apocalyptia; and Star Wars 1313 is Uncharted in space. They all seem to have a very linear structure made up of light platforming that's more about progression than skill, and shooting fools in 3rd person. They all do it in a very cinematic way too with a lot of scripted sections.

Now I'm not saying any of these games are bad, but from what I've seen the similarities are uncanny. Also, I admit that I'm not that familiar with Uncharted and of course a short E3 demo doesn't necessarily represent an entire game, but I couldn't shake the thought. Anyone else notice this?
Platform shooters have been around for far longer than uncharted.

In fact, its a stable of a lot of action-adventure games.
I'll throw in another example:
