Isn't Uncharted a PS3 exclusive that no one cares about? I've never played it. I spent my money on a big boy console, it's called a computer.

Anyone that has to flaunt their maturity is anything but.

Also, your attitude is part of the reason why I have little respect for the PC elites of today. Acting superior is not proudly proclaiming that you are better every chance you get. It is nothing more than setting up a wall between you and other people.

PC gamers 20 years ago did not need to act superior because they were superior. They did not waste their time and energy with the act because they were too busy playing their games to notice the consoles.

Yes, The trailer and game play I've seen from the new Tomb Raider gives off an Uncharted feel. Still looks fun though. Not enough seen of the new Star Wars to really tell though, and the last of us is made by the same people, but it looks like it as a more survival feel to it.

And my, my, it's like everyone got piss in their cornflakes today by the replies in this thread.

Alright, you people talking about how stupid other people are for suggesting Tomb Raider ripping off Uncharted need to remember something very important.

The new Tomb Raider is a reboot and will play quite differently from the past games, even going so far as to have Laura Croft be inexperienced!

A specific game from 1985 can't rip off another specific game from 1998. But, a specific game from 2012 can.

Guys, I know Tomb Raider came before Uncharted. But the new game is a reboot. They're changing their course a lot from where they have been recently, and that course is to imitate Uncharted.

Exactly. The new Tomb Raider is perfectly capable of ripping off Uncharted, because, Uncharted already happened, and got at least three additional installments.

After all, Sonic Unleashed totally ripped off God of War, and Sonic has been around way longer than Kratos. Just to put this into perspective.

Because Tomb Raider was always a linear, highly scripted parkour game, not a game about exploring sprawling levels and solving puzzles. Right?

There's no doubt Uncharted was influenced by Tomb Raider. And now Tomb Raider has returned the favor.

Nothing wrong with that, but call a spade a spade.

Tomb Raider was out a decade before Uncharted. And the whole 3D platformer with shooter vs. 3D shooter with platform elements is out the window too. You should have played more than a bit of the five on Playstation. There was way too much shooter by the third installment.

Umm... the same guys made both. If anyone is allowed to mimic the game it is the game makers themselves


As for the concept of scripted events, even the original Tomb Raider had those.

However, yes, a lot of games are 3rd person cover shooters because they are popular at the moment.

OT: Yes, the new Tomb Raider is shamefully trying to be Uncharted. Eventhough TR always had it's own unique and solid gameplay, it has chucked it overboard and latched onto Uncharted's scripted, cinematic setpiece way of doing things.

I don't think any of the games at E3 I was interested in were Uncharted rip-offs. Maybe games will stop seeming like Uncharted rip-offs if you looked at more than the ones that are trying to specifically do that.

I personally don't care about this new "Cinematic Platformer" trend but I hope they actually try to take it further such as dynamic camera angles. You know, improve on it.

Plus I don't own a PS3 and Star Wars 1313 will be the closest thing that I may ever get.

Tomb Raider was an acrobatic 3D platformer with shooter elements, Uncharted is a 3rd person shooter with 3D platforming/climbing elements. Tomb Raider is now a third person shooter with 3D platforming/climbing elements.

The new Tomb Raider looks more like Uncharted than Uncharted was like the old Tomb Raider. Still going to check it out though.

They've said before it's Metroid-esque in design (or Arkham Asylum, for a more recent comparison). There's also quite a bit of survival gameplay, it seems.

If anything I thought there were too many Gears of War clones. With the constant stream of cover-based, third person shooter games E3 showed us this year. But whatever, seeing more third-person-cover-based-shooters just makes me more excited for Far Cry 3.
