The next Jak game is going to be sweet and kick ass.
Naughty Dogs properties tend to not go so well when Naughty Dog aren't helming them. See Crash Bandicoot....

Good news, High Impact Game exists out of former members of Naughty Dog AND Insomniac. So I think we're good ^^

I predict that no publishers or developers show up officially, and yet everyone leaves feeling oddly satisfied.

Here are my safe as houses predictions.

* Bungie announce reboot of Marathon FPS franchise exclusively for PS3. It basically looks like Halo but with another name.
* Valve and Blizzard announce that all future titles are Wii exclusives.
* Sega announce Skies of Arcadia 2, Shenmue 3 and a 2d Sonic. Combined development and marketing budget: 2 billion dollars. Predicted to be biggest selling games ever.
* George Lucas to take personal control of Lucasarts games to revitalise the brand. First move is to re-release all of the old point and click adventures but digitally remastered to have new special effects while removing all of the puzzles and jokes.
* Microsoft announce that they are leaving the console business, selling all studios and IP to Nintendo.

*There actually will be only 1 maaaybe 2 big releases this holiday season.
*Prototype will turn out to be awesome. (They'll show it cuz it's great advertising for every news outlet to be saying how awesome it is right before it hits the shelves.)
*Next Halo will be announced. Along with a couple other similar-stature sequels, but not for 2009.
*There will be an inordinate number of Xbox Live Arcade-type titles released in 2009. For all platforms, just of that sort.
*Microsoft will show a really nifty hardware add-on to the 360, lengthening the current console cycle. It's the Wii-killer.

Nintendo doing something about games? On a games convention? Sounds like a bad sign to me ;)

My prediction:
Half of the people will say it's too loud. The other half will say it's not loud enough.
The PC will be declared dead again because all the world is waiting for Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.

The release date of SC2 will be...

... when it's done.

Somebody will present a device to play the triangle on a "Brandnew and fantastic" Guitar Hero clone.

And on that note, Harmonix and Activision will simultaneously announce a new cowbell peripheral and cowbell mode for Rockband and Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Uncharted/Tomb Raider crossover title.

Lego Street Fighter.

And my personal favorite....Jet Grind Radio II. (Not to be confused with Jet Set Radio Future, mind. That's a whole other thing.)

I'm one of those fools that still holds out hope that DNF will seriously be released sometime next year, and if all of the hoopla surrounding it is some kind of hoax, I would be impressed

I find your predictions disturbingly astute.

I'm expecting a Wii HD to be announced, along with a proper Wii Zelda game. (Twilight Princess was a GameCube port.) Also, a Hulu channel for the Wii. (I can dream, right?)

On a more serious note, I'm hoping Valve will have a playable version of Episode 3 at the show, along with the next Portal. (Not a sequel, but an entirely new game with its own unique mechanics.) I'd also love to see an official TRICO announcement, but the leaked trailer may have stolen a bit of Sony's thunder on that one.

Diablo III is far from being finished, but the release of some new character classes would be nice. Otherwise some information on the US release of Demon's Souls as well as something new from the Heavy Rain and/or Trico team.

Dreamcast 2.

Actually:

Sony: PSP2 this year, slim PS3 reveal. TRICO teaser, no full reveal.

Nintendo: new Mario (New Super Mario Bros 2 maybe), or, long shot, new Wii Zelda that will be out this year, and a whole bunch of other crap, Wii Art, something like that.

MS will announce one big new game and a few other smaller games and a casual-oriented peripheral that will fail. Alan Wake will not make an appearance.

Sega: Dreamcast 2 - new Space Channel 5, Skies of Arcadia, and Jet Set Radio.

I expect to see a whole bunch of MMO's that will toute them selves as the next WOW but will be belly up in a years time. I hope to see a whole bunch of Wii periferals including a tramoline for the new rayman raving rabbids sequal that allows you to play as the bunnys.

They are both horrible games. You know why? They were advertised too soon and rushed. They both had the potential to be decent at the least. They were rushed. I want to see a celebrity endorse a game interestingly; if Tiger Woods endorses a golf simulator, that's pretty much expected. If Tiger Woods lends his name and likeness to a werewolf killing guy with a putter made of silver, that's interesting, that grabs my attention. Kind of like the treasure-hunting grizzly bear with an excited bird living in his backpack. Yes, I watched every episode of the Game Overthinker last night. Some of them more than once. I was tired of dying at the end of Marble Zone every time I got there.
Yes, they were horrible, but time had nothing to do with it. Let me introduce you to ego. Ego grows in proportion to the amount of a persons peer group who are influenced by a person versus their interaction with those who don't. Shaquille and Curtis both have very large ego's. This causes them to say they should define a lot of direction of the game. This means that, when the plot can have liberties or creativity, the stars ego will make sure all creativity is spent on them, going for their vision, which is always shit.
Oh, c'mon, you can't be that cynical. Both Tiger and Alton are smart enough to know that they don't know what makes a good game, at least in my view.

I want to see some Bad Company 2, Modern Warfare 2, and some more Prototype!

And silly? Pokemon MMO.
You know, we've talked about a Pokémon MMOG in the office numerous times, and we pretty much agree that it would be a WoW killer. That doesn't mean it will ever actually happen, though.

In a perfect world:

Every 360 demo station will red ring causing MS to finally vow to fix the problem permanently.

Nintendo will announce that they will finally release some games for gamers on the wii; and mean it.

Sony will publicly execute it's marketing/PR team (and vow to spend that money instead on getting good games to it's customers) and sew up the mouths of every executive (including Phil Harrison even though he doesn't work there anymore) attending so they can't say more dopey shit.

Realistically:
MS will announce more lame attempts to get Nintendo's casual market. Then it will tell it's customers suffering from rrod to stop bitching and suck it up because most of them knew what they were getting into.

Nintendo will continue to insult gamers by announcing they are finally listening to the complaints from hardcore gamers and are releasing a whole new line of Webkins video games.

Sony will announce a really expensive new marketing campaign hoping to snag gamers and investors but will end up repulsing both. They'll also show us a bunch of games we already knew were coming out with lots of footage we've already seen. Their presentation will be done using the echocrome level editor.
