If we're playing the "best in show" game, I'll probably give the award to Horizon: Zero Dawn. It reminds me a lot of Xenoblade Chronicles (low technology being used to take out roaming robots in a wide open setting), only with more emphasis on action and movement rather than stats. Not that I'm complaining. Course, I can pretty much give honorable mention to practically anything from the Sony conference (bar Skylanders), and even Microsoft was pretty good. Even stuff like Forza was impressive, even if it's a game I have zero interest in.

So, yeah, I was never hyped for E3, but from what I've seen, I think it's been a decent romp.

I know it's somewhat gauche to even suggest one might like Call of Duty around here, but I gotta say...the gameplay trailer for Infinite Warfare looked fucking amazing. (if you'll pardon my language) The seamless transition from boots-on-the-ground, to air combat, to zero-G space combat both in the Jackal and in suits on the hall of a large vessel, to on-foot combat inside that same vessel, left me in awe. And from what I've been hearing, none of it was 'scripted'. The events panned out based on the player's actions and choices.
You're not the only one. I'm fully onboard for Infinite Warfare. Course it's sci-fi, and I'm a sucker for that, but I like what I've seen so far.

That being said, I am still kind of worried that Titanfall will just lose most of it's population to BF1, because apparently the whole world has a massive hard-on for WW1/2 shooters, again. Pretty silly competing with yourselves, EA.
Do you really think they'd overlap? I mean, different settings, for one thing. I assume Battlefield will focus on vehicular combat and squad co-ordination over massive battlefields whereas Titanfall is more focused on the individual in smaller arenas, with Titans to boot. Multiplayer-focused FPS games for sure, but if anything, I'd have thought that Titanfall would have more competition with CoD, even if Battlefield is CoD's main rival.

Not gonna lie I'm a bit disappointed in E3 so far. I believe RE7 and the new Hideo game are the only ones I'm looking forward to that weren't announced yet. Otherwise there is this huge emphasis on VR which kind of seem to overshadow everything. It's obvious these companies are putting a lot of money into it but espescially after the slow start of PS4 I was expecting more first party software support from Sony instead of just VR VR VR. Also I greatly enjoyed pretty much every game Hideo ever put out but when he showed his new trailer I couldn't suppress a ''oh no not this pretentious crap again'' feeling. Rather would have seen some gameplay or atleast some info about what the game will be like.

They only allowed him to make more Metal Gear games because they were almost, if not the #1 profitable source that gave Konami that fundamental power to keep up with big corporations like Nintendo, Sony, ect. so it would be very illogical to boot the guy.
I think no one in their right mind won't consider Konami a shit company but really give Hideo a billion dollar budget and 20 years to develop a game and he will somehow still find a way to run out of time and money. Konami has given him his own semi-independent studio and about 7 - 8 years(!) and 80+ million to give Hideo all the resources he wanted to make his new game engine and MGS5. Even when Hideo gave Konami's shareholders panic attacks by requesting even more time and money his requests were approved and the game got delayed. So yeah, that MGS5 ended up 'unfinished' isn't entirely Konami to blame. Obviously the only reason Konami treated Hideo with silk gloves is b/c they knew he would ultimately deliver. For a company like this that is only interested in short-term profit it must have been a particular bitter pill to swallow.

Last Guardian looks fantastic, you can't listen to someone like B-Cell who have a history of bashing Japanese games for his opinion on something like that

It's 2011 level hardware. Cut them some slack. Maybe they want to do a VR version.

The announcement of Skyrim Remastered is basically all i needed from this year's E3. That, and ANYTHING Deus Ex.

Sad that i haven't seen anything yet on Cyberpunk 2077 :(

Sony always has great press conferences, but i was surprisingly blown away by Microsoft's. I didn't expect them to have so much to offer, and i cannot wait for Scorpio. I tip my hat to this year's E3 thus far. Sony & Microsoft really brought their A game.

The beauty of not being a brand loyalist fanboy allows me to enjoy the best from all worlds, it's quite wonderful.

I have to say E3 has been a bit disappointing for me to be honest.

True, there are lots of games coming out that I'm interested in playing. But the problem is, I already knew about them all before E3.

I haven't seen a single new game announcement actually during E3 itself that made me sit up and go WOW! Everyone announces their games before E3 nowadays, so it makes me wonder what the point of the event is anymore.

Microsoft had so many great games in the show and most of them will run on Windows as well. Can't wait.

I have to say that I'm pretty excited by many of the trailers I've seen. Detroit Become Human really piqued my interest but I'm definitely more wary about it after finding out that it's being made by Quantic Dream and that David Cage is involved. Dear god, please don't let there be an incredibly awkward interactive sex scene.
Haven't you learned by now that he builds his entire games around the sex scene? It's like ground zero, and then the rest of the game kind of spirals out from that, which is why they don't really make any sense.

Anyways, it does look like it could be his best effort yet, with multiple reasons/options/scenarios to make sex.

I can see what you mean. I'm not really stoked about anything; even stuff I want to be stoked about like Nier the details have been a disappointment....

and I didn't think it could get any worse, but when the FFXV trailer has a bloody Audi in it and every other major title is set in a hopeless future earth with corrupt governments/corporate dystopia and probably having something to do with Audi I figured it was time to switch the stream off. I'm so sick of seeing Audi like everywhere in media I'm starting to view the Audi symbol as a slaves chain, perhaps the next swastika.

Probably time to clear my Steam and GOG backlog and ignore new stuff for til next year.

What I loved about this E3, wasn't the games so much but Sony didn't fuck about!

Usually companies go on and on about "here at [insert company name] are dedicated to bring the best games to you, the players" and going on about working with the best devs and all the talented people etc been the same thing for as long as I can remember, what did sony do?

They had a lil speech, mainly about the shooting, then was just trailer after trailer, then 2 more lil speeches with a good amount of trailers between. LOVED IT!

If you have a product to sell or new feature, then obviously talk about it but cut the bullshit! I don't want to hear how proud or happy you are to announce or the rest of the PR fluff you use to waste time ... give it to me point blank and then shove more gameplay in my face.

The hate the game's been getting just boggles my mind.

People hate all things associated with Call of Duty by name association alone. It doesn't matter what it is that's on display, if it at ALL bares even the most tangential of associations with Call of Duty, it is, by proxy, triple-A lowest-common-denominator garbage.

The reactions to the trailer prove this. Most were surprised, even excited, by what they were seeing in the trailer. Some even going so far as to say things like, "Wow! This game looks amazing! I have to know what it is!" Then the title card comes up at the end and suddenly it's, "Oh. Well, it's just COD. It looks boring and bland. I'm not interested in that filth."

Hell, look at the OP in the news story on this site in relation to the trailer. He admits the trailer made the game look intriguing, that it made him sit up and pay attention. But when he realized it was COD, his reaction changed to a mild, "Well, I guess I might give it a chance."

Do you really think they'd overlap? I mean, different settings, for one thing. There will inevitably be some overlap, but it won't be that significant. Each game appeals to different demographics.

My primary worry for Titanfall 2 is the possibility that there may be limited PvP and PvE content at launch. I'm excited for the campaign, but unless they have ample offerings in the multiplayer side of things there won't be much to keep people coming back.

I missed most of the non-Nintendo stuff this week.

Did Aisha Tyler try to invent a meme again?
