The writing was kind of dull but the concept was interesting. Let's hope they can deliver.

The gunplay was interesting to me, because it seemed to realize something that Max Payne 3 took into account, the feel of the guns being powerful and not just being pew-pew tak-tak guns.
But to be more critical, the amount of shooting there seemed superfluous.

Am I the only one who had never even heard of this before today? Looks awesome! I'm hoping a big part will be figuring out your own ways to complete objectives, rather than just doing what the game tells you. With the unique abilities on display that would make for one sweet game.

I was actually kind of disappointed when he pulled out the gun.
Yeah, much the same here. I was expecting something a little more subtle. But no, third person cover based shooting ahoy!

Nothing against that kind of gameplay, in fact I rather enjoy it, but this seemed to be building towards something less blunt.

I figure that this was mostly scripted so they could show off features in a controlled environment. Something that intrigues me is all the options that popped up before they changed the traffic lights. While he used it to crash cars and start a firefight, what if he had used the train? What if he let the guy arrive? I am interested in the options that appear in the game. I don't like to get my hopes up, and I generally can't get into open world games, but this looks quite interesting, and it's nice to see a new IP pop up in a world of sequels.

I'm also curious about how much of the car crash was scripted. Everything fell together a little too conveniently to be the product of random chance.
That, too. A lot of the demo content certainly felt more like the player was following a linear path than the player was dynamically using parts of the environment to accomplish objectives.
If you notice the scene took a dynamic turn when he made the car crash with the police coming and chasing you, and then that other guy showing up to be the clean up crew

This makes me suspect that this was just to show off, I would expect the police showing up as a sign that you did something wrong and as punishment the game will take up more of your time by having you trying to clean it up as someone else

Honestly with a game that seems to have many gameplay dynamics you could have much more subtle gameplay or open combat gameplay which is kinda reminestent of AC

the playtester here was just trying to show off not showing every gameplay style that could be used in that partciular mission

or I could be wrong

I would prefer it if the setting were closer to Human Revolution's in terms of tech level, but this still looks quite promising. I'm going to assume it plays like shit until I actually try it, though.

This and Last Of Us.

Does anyone think games need better graphics than these?
I expected LOA to look great, but WD looks amazing when raining. Looked PC maximum settings level.

This looks amazing. I'd buy the game just for the coat animation.
Definitely going to keep tabs on it.

This game depends on how much of it is scripted and how much is procedurally generated. For instance, near the end, we see the main character hacking the traffic lights at just the right moment to cause a massive car crash and trap his target. The question here is, what happens if you trigger the lights too soon? Or too late? Or if you never even step outside the nightclub/gallery and wait for your target there? If there's a sufficient level of freedom and an open world, together with the cool hacking mechanics this could be brilliant.

Ubisoft are definitely "winning" E3 so far, even with the annoying hosts that they had.
True, Toby was a bit annoying. But I think Ubisoft's message judging from the gameplay footage from Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Assassins Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 was:

"Stealth? What's stealth?" Q_Q

If this really is how the final product will be like and most of that was unscripted... then I will most likely definitely buy this.

Looks absolutely awesome.

So... you play as a dude who spends all his time pushing buttons on an iphone? Yay?

Add on top of that, "Oh no, it's not just ANY cell phone, it's a "hacker's wet dream" cell phone", so you just push buttons and the world bends to your will. I'll pass.

It looked amazing........up until the boring gunfight. It completely destroyed all pacing and felt shallow. Like...Kanye and Lunch 2 shallow. I don't know how much gunplay they're going to dedicate the game to, but if its too much it could make it pretty bad. I feel a more Heavy Rain cinematic approach would've been better with just the hacking elements instead of QTEs......but they decided on going all Gears of War. Its sad really because it looks impressive graphically and the voice acting was great.

If this is the best of E3, then I'm sad for gaming.

The more I think about this trailer, the more I realize that just about everything had to be scripted.

Now, maybe they were just presenting in a scripted way, the kind of emergent gameplay that the game would have. But as for now I'm cautiosly optimistic. Leaning more towards cautious.

Side note... I'm wondering, if you can look up the names and some personal information about every random person you pass by on the street, will that psychologically affect how we treat them? I mean, it's standard operating procedure in GTA-style games to just run over people and go on crazed shooting sprees. I wonder if it'll be different this way? Like, you run some guy over, and then you see an info popup "John Smith: father of three, works at the bakery"
Cautiously optimistic is the opportune phrase here.
And I'm sure you may hit one guy "Mass Murderer, Thief and Penny pincher", at which point ill hit everyone just in case :p
Also the game background states that it isn't a magical phone, its just that the society is perpetually plugged in and therefore vulnerable to digital intrusion

Last of Us and this. This is why I play games, for the times like this.

If this pulls off everything it seems to be promising, it will be epic.

My only concern so far is watching that trailer it seems like the car crash-shootout is the only feasible way to kill the guy, which is worrying. I don't like leaving trails of bodies behind, especially in games like this (Hitman being another great example) I want an option where I lure him into the club, corner him while he's on the toilet and break his neck. Clean, quiet, no one evern realises he's dead until I've faded into the night.

Hopefully they will have options for things like the above, and this action shooty trailer is just to pique interest in the knuckle dragger demographic.
