The control they have is quite concerning. Don't worry they can't ban you on a forum they don't own!!

The only thing that worries is that i say famous last words and EA suddenly buys the Escapist website. and then the patronising Zelda Treasure find music sound byte plays.

I'm gonna go with this guy.
One guy got banned by the auto-filter for that forum post. That sucks for him.

What about the people who glitch/exploit in their games? They were also banned. Idk about you, but I am all for more accountability.
I'm not really taking sides, but if you were the one who was no longer alowed to play your games because someone else got in trouble and mentioned your username would you go: "eh, that sucks. Whatevs. I see no problem here".

Look, I've played EA games. They're not horrible, although they have been mashed through the jaws of corporate interests. But recently, EA is going off the leash, attacking it's own customers.

Incidents such as prohibiting people from playing their LEGALLY bought games if they misbehave on their forums, as well as locking the accounts (and the games, effectively cutting off access to the games) of people who haven't done a damned thing wrong (the recent case of a man named Aaron who was banned because someone else swore in the forums while also mentioning Aaron's username).

This has gone on too long.

Either EA stops their abhorrent, and possibly illegal, practices, or we stop buying their games.

I, Fuhjem, am pledging henceforth to never buy a single game that EA has at any point put their hands on.

That means no Mass Effect 3 for me (and as anyone who knows me knows, I am a diehard fan of the ME series), no Battlefield 3, no Star Wars: The Old Republic, nothing EA is putting their filthy hands on.

I'm going to do my part to call to attention the extreme amount of bullshit that EA is doing to their very own customers, the very people who let them exist.

If you believe as I do, let the world know and post here. Maybe we can have a petition put up, telling EA to cut this bullcrap.

Thanks for your time.

i have been boycotting since origins details came out i love mass effect but i wont put origin on my system for any reason

If EA games stop being bought, then they may have to reconsider.

If you absolutely must buy ME3, wait a few days for it to be pre-owned at gamestop. That way, EA receives none of the profits.
I wouldn't recommend shopping Gamestop but that would be (and has been and still is) multiple threads on it's own. Buy pre-owned from a local retailer or ebay or something. As for EA, Dragon Age 2 was the last game I bought that they published. Between that and, Mass Effect 2 I'm not a big EA fan...releasing the same damn sport game every year...why not bring back Mutant League...the bastards.

If it was me? I'd be on the phone with EA's customer support until the decision was reversed. Yes, it's going to be a pain in the ass. Yes, it's going to take a long time. But there has to be a way to get ahold of someone @ EA and make them see the error for what it is. And if there truly is no way to reverse the decision... then you move on and no longer support them. There's plenty of other games out there to enjoy.

So does 1 person being inconvenienced warrant a full blown boycott? I'd say no. They could be boycotted for other reasons, but this just seems petty.

*Sigh* So we're doing this again are we? I myself would never boycott EA simply because my appreciation for the games they publish far outweigh any hate I have for them. While they have done some questionable things, I can't say that I've been directly screwed over by them before. Yes, things like the online passes are annoying but they always work and I've never needed to call EA support before.

Also, boycotting them when you clearly still enjoy the games they publish says more about you than them.

I'm prepared to throw my support in behind you, but unfortunately it wouldn't make a difference. The fact is most people who play games aren't even aware they're getting bum-fucked by EA, and therefor don't care, and therefor won't do anything about it.

If you look at a company as Blizzard, who has made so few games and are so strong in the game industry, financial and reputation wise(yeah I know it's Activision Blizzard now), then how the heck can it be so god damn hard for an enormous company as EA to screw it all up and take a large dump on their customers and just don't care?

Well.... I guess money is the rout to all evil....
Activision had a pretty damn evil history if you didn't already know that and tried to gloss it over, and WoW has a pretty restrictive TOS. Blizzard owns the very soul of your animated in-game character.
Yes but they treat us, the customers, with respect and are nice towards us, we have come to trust them, which is something that makes a world to differences compared to EA.

They've been "one year ahead" ever since they started putting years in the title - just like car model years do.

Knowing EA, if everybody stopped buying their games they'd blame the customers and not their own, ridiculous and occasionally shady practices.

Im just finding it hard to believe that many people will boycott every single game no matter what it is based soley on the fact that EA somehow helped in it's creation.
That's...Kinda how a boycott works. It doesn't work if you only refuse to buy the stuff you don't like.

Buy their games on Xbox.

MS enforces their policies there, which are much fairer.

Or, you could send sixty bucks to Bioware and pi... yeah, nevermind, don't do that.

If everyone waited for pre-owned, there would never be a pre-owned game on the shelf.
No worries. There will always be plenty of people like this guy...

I'd love to. Except for one, EA wouldn't care. It's a mega corporation, it doesn't need to listen to fans or ex-fans. Just usual day business for EA.

Also, I can't do without my Mass Effect 3. I must have. xD And TOR looks good too.
You can let them buy the games first.

I also see no problem with pirating the games you already bought from a publisher after it has denied you said games on completely ridiculous grounds.

It's kind of too bad that no one at EA has any fucking sense. I mean everyone hates Activision and Ubisoft, so you'd think EA might want to capitalize on that by positioning themselves as the pro-gamer/customer megacorporation. Apparently it's more like a race.

I would, but my love for Bioware outweighs my hatred of EA. I am, however, swearing off the Bioware forums from now on. It's just too risky.
