The arrogance of some of the people involved with Crysis 2 is a little disturbing. Why can't they just worry about making their own, unique game?
I agree. I'm starting to get the feeling that they are going to hype it up so much that the actual product isn't going to live up to it at all. It's like they learned everything they needed to know from Peter Molyneux.

I still like the Halo series in general, but after H3 it felt like the series was over. Unless it's the Master Chief and Cortana, it's not really a Halo game, just a game set in the Haloverse.

That said, they're just trying to build up hype. They're own fault if they hype too much and flop.

I wouldn't be surprised if Crysis 2 did in fact outsell Reach, as it will be on the PS3 and PC instead of just the Xbox 360.
Not sure if im the first to point this out but It only came out on the PC and is coming TO the PS3 and Xbox 360

Maybe they mean that they think Halo is the pinnacle design of an FPS?........even if they think that it makes them look stupid.

Whoa, the Crysis 2 team really has a thing for bashing Halo, first they go on about Halo's story and now this.
A little bit insecure, are we?

Hey wasn't the dude who was writing for crysis 2 comdemn other games for there lack of plot and stuff? Man these dudes are cocky. So they want to replace halo's dubious title has the most popular first person shooter game. Fine. It'd be a great accomplishment to replace it entirely canceling out halo and forever banning it to the negative zone but I'd like it a whole lot more that you didn't come out and act like your top dog. gameplay speaks louder than words. The more you brag the larger ball your gonna have in your court. And with this somewhat cliche phrase that ball now has spikes on it. And it's on fire. And it explodes upon contact.

"Halo killer?" that's as redundant as "CoD obvious cash-in."

Halo has been beaten out numerous times before. Unless Halo: Reach somehow redefines FPSs EA shouldn't worry about Halo. (BTW Halo is a fun franchise that doesn't deserve the hate it gets)

I hope this game sells like shit. And I'm pretty damn sure Reach will outsell Crysis 2. Everybody and their grandma knows what halo is. only pc gamers are really familiar with crysis. whether crysis 2 will be the better game or not remains to be seen. The beta for halo: reach is out, crytek, and it kicks ass. You can start talking when you get atleast a beta out.

I've been playing the Halo: Reach beta to death, and I have to say... I doubt it. I have hopes for Crysis 2, but Reach is shaping up to be the best Halo entry yet. That is to say, arguably the best FPS consoles have ever seen.

You know what happened to the last game that called itself a Halo-killer; it turned out to be a whole load of average. I'm looking in your direction Killzone.

EA: Crysis 2 Will Be a "Halo Killer"

Apparently, nobody at Electronic Arts got the memo that Halo isn't the console shooter to beat anymore, since it's calling Crysis 2 a "Halo killer."

With the absolutely gorgeous-looking Crysis 2 coming to consoles (and PC) this fall, EA is aiming to dethrone Halo from its spot as the premiere console FPS. That's what EA Games president Frank Gibeau told IndustryGamers [http://www.industrygamers.com/news/crysis-2-will-be-a-halo-killer-says-ea/], anyway:

"...we were trying to craft a Halo-killer, you know a product that would squarely go after what Bungie built with our partners at Crytek. So the Crysis 2 product is spectacular, very high-end, and is going to be a multi-year franchise," said Gibeau.

In fact, Gibeau is rather proud of EA's portfolio of FPS developers, not the least of which is the new team surrounding Jason West and Vince Zampella at Respawn. "when you look at Crytek, DICE, Epic, the LA team building MoH, and then Respawn, you know we got a pretty damn killer team," he said.

It's funny that he mentions Respawn, actually, because West and Zampella were of course responsible for the Call of Duty series - the series that actually dethroned Halo from its perch. So either Gibeau is aiming low, or he hasn't yet gotten the intel that Halo is no longer the top dog in town to beat.

Hell, couldn't you argue that with the upcoming Reach, Bungie itself is "killing" Halo? It's the supposed series grand finale, after all. I wouldn't be surprised if Crysis 2 did in fact outsell Reach, as it will be on the PS3 and PC instead of just the Xbox 360.

More than anything, though, this speaks to the power of the Halo brand - even after it's been kicked from the king of the hill as the best-selling console FPS, it's still the game to beat. Even if it makes you look a bit backward to say so.

Maybe if they learn how to fucking make the game engine efficient and actually playable on computers, god I (and obviously about 60 other people) could make this same game, with the same graphics but at least twice as good performance, and half the graphical requirements.

For the consoles, they wont even know what this game is, its more like "what? why does this game have a 2 on it? I never saw the first one. and its not like there are better ways to play games now a days, like not on a console, right?" Though I suppose if a 360 can handle the graphics, at least I wont be playing in any worse condition on the PC, maybe they actually learned something. Realistically people will probably like it there to, though I'm not sure it has enough popularity for being a halo killer.

I am SICK of [game]killers. Make your game stand alone, and let the fans show you how good it is. Claiming to be besting another game is the weakest form of publicity, scoffed at by fans of the game and often dismissed by everyone else, and can easily be perceived as foolish arrogance, especially after so many 'WoW killers' have failed.

Then again, I enjoyed Crysis a lot, and I only have high expectations of Mk2. Of course, I'm going to need a graphics card update (my old 8800gt 250mb is showing its age with BCBF2 - can't run it at 1920x1200 on high, unlike Crysis. Heh...)

Crysis was all about the graphics with only a loose story so that it could be sold, they have decided to get as much money of of this franchise, so unless the threw the old story out the window, and decided to make a story that perhaps didnt include killing everything that looks at you wierd with the biggest gun that was given to you, it wont be killing anything, even something thats already been killed

**Rant before i decided to read the top, sry**
Isnt halo dead yet?... It is to me anyways... (sincerely, PC gamer)
Assuming halo hasn't already been outclass by every FPS PC game with a story and multiplayer, Crysis has never appeared to me to be to big on the story or multiplayer, not saying it isnt fun, the number of choices you have to kill your enemy are quite enjoyable, but Crysis was a linear FPS with only enough story so that they could put it on a shelf to advertised their VGA killing graphics (which admittedly are quite good) problem is, you shouldn't say something is a killer unless it actually has more then 1 dimension of playability

Wait...this is stupid. Halo-killer? CoD4 did that. We need a "CoD" killer. But Activision already basically did that, to most people. Personally, I like Treyarch better than I ever liked IW, so I'm still getting Black Ops.

And now IW is basically working for EA as Respawn. And Bungie with Activision.

It's a freaking flip of publishers.
I don't see CoD as being a "Halo Killer" since I would much rather play Halo than Call of Duty: (number) Sequel: Sequel (number).

And I don't see Crysis being a "Halo killer" either. From what I've see, read, heard about Crysis is that it's incredibly good looking, pretty much destroys all your computer parts because it is a huge resource hog, and has absolutely no story valve what so ever.

At least Halo had a (generic) story.

Or you could, you know, actually worry about making your own damn game. *sigh* And this is why people (for no logical reason) bash Halo.
No logical reason? It's for PR. Hype sells games.
I think you misread what I was saying. I know why the Crysis guys are saying what they're saying.

My comment about "no logical reason" was pertaining to the.. people who say Halo is a blight on videogames because lazy developers, like the Crysis2 team, can't think up their own game and have to rely on cloning something popular. The lack of innovation and creativity isn't the fault of Halo or Bungie, it's the fault of the developers who clone Halo and yet some people, for no logical reason, blame Halo/Bungie for it.

I heard of so many "Halo Killers." Resistance, Medal of Honer, Haze, Doom 3; They were fun, well except for Haze, but they weren't Halo Killers.
