That was such a great game back in the day especially Red Alert 2.

Hmmmmm, whenever I've been in game stores I look in the re-released stuff and there's always a copy of the first Red Alert (and the 2nd) for less than £5!

Is it just me being pessimistic or have EA decided to give away a game made by another company solely for the purpose of whoring the latest (taken over) edition of said game series, that they now own?

Sorry to be THAT guy, I'm sure you'll love the game if you haven't played it/played it for a while, but I have seen this game in quite a few places, for very cheap. To me, it doesn't look like EA have some new found respect for their consumers, the opposite in fact.

Red Alert is the best RTS series out there. I own 3 copies (from various bundles, plus the original) of RA1, so I don't need to download this, however the fact that they are doing it is cool.
This game blows all that crap Blizzard makes right out of the water.

I love the C&C and RA series but it is very hard to compare to other great games like SC and Diablo, especially with the new installments coming soon.

They're also giving away Red Alert 2 for 'free' as well. It's being packaged with the Premier's Edition of Red Alert 3.

Hmm.. I might just get this copy of RA too. I still have both the original C&C and RA megapacks with all the expansions. Come to think of it, I have every C&C game I know of other than the expansion for the awful Tiberian Sun.

I have that awful expansion . You may think it's terrible, but I think it's brilliant, it made me value my social life more.

I actually thought Tiberian Sun was great, and I had a lot of fun playing it online. What was the expansion again? Firestorm? If so, then it didn't really add much to the original game IIRC.

If Westwood still did Command and Conquer I would agree with the orginal pose here but since EA has control then I agree that Blizzard is making better.
