Not quite.

EA doing something stupid isn't really worth debating.

If we had a debate every time a company in the gaming industry did something daft we'd have no time to watch Jeremy Kyle.

So what have they been doing, I can't really tell from the pics.
From what I can tell they have been using spam bots to make votes for their petitions? What did they do it on? More info would be nice.

Going with the assumption that they did indeed use spam bots to get votes for their petitions then I can't even say I am surprised. EA just keep doing stuff like this, it's as if they think it's a contest or something.

Such a stupid move. It's indeed fairly obvious that it was a bot net - I see a George from North Korea being happy and he will continue to buy EA titles. Wtf. Also, all the american names for people coming out of Asia/East Bloc.

I guess some companies never learn.

Its so obvious it almost seems like a joke.

But then you realize it isn't and then it just becomes sad.

It must be nice for the gay community to have EA stand firmly behind them taking their money and riding on the coat tails of the activism they have worked so hard on.

Not entirely serious, maybe.

It's like EA is the North Korea of videogame publishers.

Had to comment again.

Just reading through some of the comments in that petition and noticed one of the names is Roland from Poland.

That made me chortle.

Rudolph from North Korea? wat

I mean this is so blatantly obvious it's laughable. Why are they doing this? They'd get the signatures regardless but this just delegitimises their campaign. It's like EA go out of their way to be hated and ridiculed.

Well, according to Mike from North Korea EA are doing a great job for the LGBT community! I never knew Mike was a traditional North Korean name.

Also the Javascript runtime errors are fantastic. Well done EA, good thing you don't specialise in electronics and writing codes or anything...

Santa has been staying as an "honored guest" in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea ever since he entered their airspace without permission. They give the reindeer WiFi.

Well that's nice of them! I wonder if he'll make some anti capitalist toys like the Japanese director who was 'persuaded' to make a monster movie highlighting the dangers of capitalism?

They just keep digging their own grave. Good, very good. The sooner they die the better for the rest of the industry.

Have you any proof that it was EA using spambots? I find it a lot more probable that it's someone who really hates EA who's done this to make them look bad, or just a few trolls.

I'm just curious here but why does everyone think it was EA who was doing this? Actually, no wait, screw it, let me rephrase: "Lets assume, despite lack of proof, that it was EA that did this. Why do you care? Even if EA did bot bomb a petition TO THEMSELVES asking that EA not cave to anti-homosexual pressure (which already sounds silly) then why does any rational person care?"

Because it just further proves to many of us that they are a dishonest and unethical company. Some people are unaware and I think its important to know which companies can stab you in the back at a moment's notice.

Ok, setting aside the fact that there is no proof yet that they have done this, I would like know how you are exactly being stabbed in the back by this. Unless I guess you are a homophobe...in which case let me shell out some cash to EA so they can afford more knives.

I was implying that this reinforces the fact that EA is dishonest, assuming its true of course. The stab in the back part is just my way of saying that any company willing to lie and cheat as much as EA does is not trustworthy.
