EA: It's not that we don't like what you've done recently, it's that we don't like you period.

I suppose this is related to ME3, but w.e.

EA's been having a hard time lately, what with KOTOR failing and interest in DA3/ME3 DLC at an all time low. And in typical EA fashion their first move was to try and deflect attention to their customer base rather than admit fault.

"You're all entitled!"
"Stop spamming us with homophobic hatemail!"

Etc. And then after they won the golden turd and hatred didn't abate after several weeks they started their half assed attempts to appease people. Amending their insanely bad Origin ban policy, the multiplayer pack, I'm sure there are a few other half measures I'm forgetting.

The point is that this crap isn't *nearly* enough to repair EA's image. They've been accumulating ill will passively with intrusive DRM and executive meddling for so long that their customers now actively hate their guts. A quick "whoopsie!" isn't gonna fix that.

I hope.

Have you played NFS: Shift, Shift 2 Unleashed, or The Run?

Let's just say I used to like NFS games, but not anymore.

TOR is not failing. It is underperforming. There's a big difference.

Sorry to nitpick but this drives me nuts. Every time a MMO fails to hit twelve million subscribers they're tagged as "failures", even though a great many of them go on to be wildly profitable. EQ peaked at 800K subscribers and was viewed as an enormous success and the king of its genre prior to WoW's release.

But yes, EA are a cabal of sinister pricks, there is no question.

i think EA is in panic mode right now

and while i hate it when people lose jobs (i really dont want any more competition in job hunting) but i do kinda hope EA crumbles (again very unlikely but oh well)

actually it is somewhat failing, problem is they pooled ALOT of money into this game thinking they had the WoW killer and it would pay off really fast.... yh
i mean yh alot of people like it and its popular its just not enough for them
I mean any sane company wouldnt have spent as much money and would actually be happy with the figures ToR has but in this case that ain happenin

You can argue that it's failing to meet the expectations EA had for it, but it's still doing quite well by industry standards.

Really, it would be best for the genre if people would stop setting their expectations based on what happened with WoW. The scale of success with WoW has proven over and over again to be completely anomalous.

completely agree, but its failing because EA did try to take on WoW and as such it isnt making any where near as much money as they had thought/ hoped

Its failing because its a subscription-based MMO missing half the content and features of of Burning Crusade WoW with the only positive on its side being the VO'd cutscenes - which wind up getting fucking annoying after the second hour or so of gameplay.

If it wasn't for the Star Wars name on the label, the game would've died months ago.

I'm done with EA. They have destroyed every franchise I cared about. BF3 is done, ME3 is done, Dragon Age is done, and Crysis is done.
