Forgive me for being a tad unconvinced but the "random person who was permanently banned from the forums" side of the story is pretty useless at face value. One swear gets you a permanent ban on the forums? No prior history? Nothing else but a simple swear? You claim that it wasn't even you who did it in the first place?

I hope you complained up a storm to them first and get it resolved... otherwise I'm inclined to believe that your story is pretty much lying and trying to turn popular opinion against EA and Origin (not a hard feat either) since you're upset you broke the rules and got punished.
I absolutely don't blame you, and would be happy to add you to the list of people I skype conference into my next call into support, where they can look up my account and tell me any infractions.
Yeah, usually I'm of the opinion that the banned are 99% likely to be lying to try and get their way out of it but Origin's shadiness makes me a bit more willing to believe that they'd do something like this.

If they address the issue then I couldn't expect them to do much more. It is a new service so a auto-ban system might not be 100% accurate. Even the people who do think EA is the embodiment of an evil empire would know that they wouldn't want to wrongingly ban those who could still buy more stuff from them.

This is why I avoid EA like herpagonasyphilaids...

I mean really, after Mass Effect 3 I'll be unlikely to buy anything from Electronic Arts unless its used/in some way doesn't provide profit to them.

small claims court!
It's only $160 to file in my locality. They'll try to claim that I'm subject to binding arbitration but there's way around that. Also they'll still spend thousands flying a lawyer out to me.

Strongly considering this option along with documenting the saga.

EXACTLY why I will never use Origins

Seriously, its like EA hates making money?? Tho I think the real problem is that EA has always had the attitude of "fuck you customer, we're EA, the top dog around here! We can do whatever the hell we want!" Only they have not seemed to realize that in the digital distribution market, they are NOT the top dog, but simply the underdog to Steam, and that because of that their shit won't fly with people.

what do i think? right now i think it's be hilarious to post every swearword in america along with a list of every account name in origin's system

they'd either loose a large market share or revise their dumb-assery,

just a shame i cant do it to activision too..

brb, trolling origin...

It might take just a bit more than that. I recognized the material as being from an IRNV thread, and I know I was in a lot of those. I think this happened because the poster quoted me and then did their swearing.

I know for 100% fact that the violation in question wasn't mine. We all know our own cuss-structure, and it doesn't match mine at all. Also, I never use the c-word because I'm not british and I have better words to insult women with if necessary. ;)

o_O wait, people are actually using Origins? rofl, you fo real dude? Oh you are? ummm okay then.... *heavily embarrassed*

/bad attempt at humor

o_O and this is why Steam rules, honestly though, if you paid for the game, and didn't read the "ToS" you might be out of luck, because it can totally say "ToS apply to forums and if you mess up there, we'll steal your game privledges" because like movies, you don't actually "own the game" as far as I know, you are merely buying the liscense to have a copy... or some technical terms like that. As such, they can draw up the basic guidelines of what you can and cannot do.

Really sucks though :/ But yet another reason to never get Origins.

For such a huge gamemaker EA seems to have very little concept of how they should treat gamers. It's like nobody who works for them has ever met a gamer before. Their ads are awful and patronizing at best. And now this, a way to systematically whittle down their list of paying customers for something so arbitrary there's no possible way the "benefits" could outweigh the cost. And not just monetary cost--this will be a huge hit to people's trust in EA. A system like this is the fastest way to get people to never buy games from them again.

So good job, EA. You've once again shot yourself in the foot. You may as well just grab the gauze and tough it out--the emergency room told you to stop coming in and the clinic isn't taking your calls.

And that is why I won't be playing BF3, ME3, or any other likely excellent games linked to origin.

Still no access to singleplayer content, or anything else in my Origin account.

Every. Single. Piece. Of. Content. In. Origin. Is. Locked. Out.

Am now almost bored enough to dig up personal cell numbers of CS executives at EA. I will keep you updated.

I have no intention of ever using Origin or any of EAs services. It is nice to know they are still being massive douchebags. I keep hoping it will secretly drive them out of business but that is not the case.

Man, I am glad you posted here, I won't be using their forums anytime soon. I am not happy that BioWare is owned by EA, sure TOR would not be possible without the financial backing of EA but they are just screwing with everything. Dragon Age and Mass Effect were fine without multiplayer.

Angad: Is there anything else I can do for you?
I posted the rest here as I don't want to be spamming the forums with it.

What do you guys think about this?

The violation in question was someone making a post, cursing at me, with my username at the end of their rant. That's right. You just have to swear at someone now and EA's automatic filter does the rest.
if this is true the sue the fuck out of them. im sorry but a blind lawyer could win something like this anywere.

If EA are jerking you around may i suggest filing a complaint with the BBB (better business bureau)? they're actually quite good at making shifty manufacturers reverse "fu*k the customer" decisions.

Wow.

What is wrong with EA? Just... what is wrong with them?
The answer is actually pretty simple: You.

Well, not you personally, but the collective 'you'. People who buy their shitty games and accept their shitty service are the reason EA can continue to do things like this.
