There's nothing lucky about it, unless you consider genetics luck. Are we a bit jealous of other primates success here? Going back to the stone age are we?
Nay not really.
I just don't see the fun in the game, and I for one think it's boring as hell.

Therefore I think it was a lucky shot that they went this far.
Because the game suck
Except that they...don't. Okay, the combat in ME1 was a bit dodgy and the Mako driving was a bit off.

But the plot, universe, characters are all great...or at least, I think they were great. If you disagree, that's all right.

Two points of view can both be true, and if a Geth can say that, then humans can say it too!

Damn good game. :)

I've recruited Mordin, Archangel, Jack and Zaeed so far, and can't wait to go get Grunt tomorrow and continue this amazing game. Purgatory was one seriously cool level... BioWare should be congratulated on a game that has, in my view, virtually no flaws (I'd like to see the Mako make a return, but that's just my view, and it's not a major problem :)).

Love it!

The game has one GLARING flaw, though.

It ENDS.

Seriously, bioware, you gotta release a bugfix for that. Like, fast.

please dont say this is as good as it gets, I'm beginning to feel like the only human in a world of ants, i really didn't like either of the games, like not at all.

so why am i the only human in a world of ant instead of it being the other way round, well one way to look at it is that i am wrong, and the other is that everyone else is, you damn dirty ants!
What?

I'm very much glad. This game is, well, damn AMAZING! It may only be January, but I think this is my game of the year.

It really hurts to say that my Xbox is D-E-A-D and that I cannot enjoy Mass Effect 2 after these long, lonely nights of anticipation and waiting since I played through the first one. I might consider buying it for PC just to get my hands on it!

And I'm not surprised it went so well for the game, it's one of the most anticipated games I've ever been around to... anticipate, or whatever.

Just beat it 10 minutes ago.

My jaw is still hanging loosely off my mouth, due to a tragic case of over dosing on epic.

Hey, one might go as far as saying that the Effect this game is having on the industry is Massive! Perhaps even Doubly so!! :D

... Yeah, I still have yet to play the first game. I might one day, but until then, I have a lot of other work to do.

I don't understand how Mass Effect 1 got everyone's knickers in an orgasm-twist, but hey, as long as it beats MW2, I'm happy. Something that has more substance deserves all the credit.

A shame the game blows compared to the original. If I wanted to play Gears of War, I'd play Gears of War. At least the story keeps it interesting.

Okay, Mass Effect never caught my interest, I'm no fan if Bioware's work and didn't like KotOR a bit. What they called roleplaying was having three kinds of dialogue options containing an evil one, a neutral one and a good option.
Seeing all the praise, I'll probably check out the original Mass Effect some time soon. I'm just afraid the almighty "great storyline" and "masterfully written characters" are just so almighty within the realms of video games and stand no tiny chance over cinema or even literature. Here's hoping I'll be proven wrong.

Fantastic. Bioware deserves every single accolade they get. More developers should strive for the quality that they deliver.

I still have yet to play ME2 but if what I heard was true and the quality really is far superior to the first then I expect to be thoroughly impressed.

That's nice, EA Games, but how well will Medal of Honor do?

I'm hoping for some earth-shattering shit here.

Fantastic game? Yes. Influential? Hardly.

No one copies Bioware; no one even tries. It's too hard to do what they do how they do it, and everyone knows it.

MW2 will be influential (like it or not). Investors see the $$$, it's easy to copy, and worth billions. WoW is influential. The Sims is influential. GTA3 was influential.

I doubt we'll be seeing a flood of RPG-shooters with deep characters and branching choices from anyone other than Bioware.

Now, just think about this. It can mean one of two things. 1: Mass Effect 3 will go down as the single greatest game in modern history. OR 2: ME2 could set the bar so high that ME3 falls flat. I'm gonna guess the former is the appropriate choice however.

Bioware deserves it.

They did a damn good job with this game.

I haven't beaten it yet, I'm taking my sweet time with it.
This exactly...
The game is absolutely stunning!
