According to this, EA is withholding multiplayer from their sports games from anyone who buys a used copy. As anyone who owns Madden will know, or soon find out, playing by yourself is rather boring. Is EA actively trying to steal the "Worst Game Company" away from Activision?
Thoughts? Theories? Angry Rants?

Oh EA... you take 1 step forward and 2 steps back...

This could get people to, you know, not buy your games so they don't have to deal with this crap? Ever think of that?

WAH! WAH! EA SUCKS! WAH!

We get it! Everyone hates EA!

*Cough* I had to get that out of my system.

While I am not a Madden fan, I don't blame EA for trying to make a profit from used games. It doesn't mean it does not suck. I just understand why they are doing it.

Let the boicot begin
They'd love that. Last time a major boycott happened, well, you know, best selling game launch of all time and all that.

This is a good strategy by EA. Stick it to GameStop without hurting it's fans at all. Anyone that actually cares about the industry will pay the extra 5 bucks to buy a NEW game.

I haven't bought an EA Sports title in years(and don't plan to anytime soon)so this doesn't affect me too much. However if it proves to be successful then it's only a matter of time before they do it with non sports titles as well.I can see why they're doing it but it still seems like a dickish move

That's a CD key that is, EA and others have been doing that for years. Now that it's the main bread winner, you didn't seriously think publishers wouldn't turn their attention to ruining console games did you?

Welcome to PC gaming boys.

Okay! That's it! I am tired of the whining! People are turning in their used games because they got boring! It happens! People lose interest over time! And you know what? That's natural!!! It happens because, unless a game is really interesting, profound, or even fun, people aren't going to hang onto it when the newer ones come along! Especially in this economy! If you don't want to lose sales to used games, make a game that people will want to hang onto to play again! Instead of punishing the consumer in an attempt to milk an old, stale game for all it's worth, try coming up with something worthwhile for a change! That is the nature of media, this is something they should keep in mind for their business plan! It's the internet, why am I yelling without any caps?!?!?!

Ehh, even with the added 10 bucks the used game would likely still be a bit cheaper overall. It's not evil more than it is annoying for some.

Nah it still smacks of rich guys whining because they're not as rich as they could be.
TO EA: You're richer then I'll ever be *****, so STFU!

Thread title change to "EA says Screw You"?

Even so, I can see their reasoning. The second hand game market is stifling the industry.

I knew that EA's new, gamer friendly business model wouldn't last long. All is right with the world again.

I never buy sports games anyway so EA can suck it. Frankly I don't see what the big deal is about used games.

I've been PC gaming, hell, the only console I own is a Wii, and you can imagine how much use I'm getting out of it...
