Big wall of text, but it does have an important message. EA are screwing the video game market!

Seriously, We knew that. Just another crime to add to EA's list. Least the bloke has the decency to not blame Microsoft.

Oh and did he have to skirt around the message? This'll sound stupid, but is he not able to directly point the finger of blame at EA without facing punishment?

Look at Trophy's, pretty much a mess imo. Should of just left them out like Nintendo.
I'll admit that much. I don't really see the point of Trophies and Achievements.
Yeah I dont mind the 360 Achievements system, but Trophys is just tacked on the end and only forced on developers to use them at the beginning of the year. If something like that wasnt there at the start then theres no point really. Trophys are pretty horrible to navigate and compare with friends.

But this rant is for another topic :p

Well, Sony doesn't know who he is, judging from other posts; but if they did, he'd probably get it.

Wow, Sony can't play catch up because they dug themselves too deep in a hole to climb back out of it. What's new?

Whats this cross game chat and custom soundtracks? I don't get it, what is EA denying you.
you know party speak for the xbox? that's what cross game speak is (I think), and custom soundtrack is, instead of listening to the ingame soudtrack, you can listen to the song you have on your HDD

OT: anyone figure out what game it is? also, big surprise EA released a game that will look inferior to other games? that happens already, so I guess they don't need to worry about it. of course, dead space, my favorite game of 2008, was made by EA, and dantes inferno.... dammit EA, why do you make me love you, then make me want to disembowel your family?

I'm going with: This was all fabricated and "inside sources" generally aren't on the inside of anything.

Sadly, I think it sort of says something about Sony's understanding of it's target customers that these features are even being discussed as if it's "New".

I wasn't even aware you couldn't talk to others on the PSN unless those SPECIFIC conditions were met, nor was I aware that you couldn't play your music while playing a game. I guess that just goes to show how shocking it is that this technology wasn't already available. It's such a basic seeming feature that I didn't even bother noticing it was missing because I never tried to do it under the assumption that it was probably already there anyway.

What I DO think is annoying as hell and one of my BIGGER gripes about Sony's failure to deliver to it's customers simple things are still my two biggest laments about the system:

1. Two YEARS LATER, I STILL can NOT change the color of the test on the dashboard screen. I cannot STRESS how angry this makes me that it remains on that default white, rendering the ability to set any picture as your wallpaper COMPLETELY FREAKING USELESS! No matter what picture I use, there is always that ONE area of white-space that makes it impossible to read what is on the menu. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED YET SONY?!?

2. During DVD's or Videos, I can only either WATCH, or exit to the dashboard. WHY can I NOT access my friend's list while watching a DVD? or the PSN store? Again, a simple function that the "inferior" Xbox can do, but NOT the PS3??

Granted neither of these things are dealbreakers for owning PS3, but all of these little issues combine together to paint me a bigger picture that ME, the current customer, is the LAST thing on Sony's mind right now. They are more concerned with selling NEW units than servicing the loyal fans who already bought one.

It's being able to voice chat with others when you're playing different games.

Judging from other posts, this guy's been right a few times before.

uhhh EA screws PS3 gamers?
Basterds!....
Basically, EA's mad at Sony because some of their games fall under the 5% of games that can't support Custom Soundtracks, so

When they found out that a new firmware update was going to suddenly make one of their games look inferior to just about every other game released, they protested. A lot.
They threatened everything, from legal action to dropping support for the PS3 all together.
And:

We've found a couple of titles that just don't like it [Cross-Game Chat]. Similar to the custom soundtrack fiasco, it can cause lag, crashes, desyncronisation (very very bad when this happens), you name it. It can't be used in these games and it just so happens that some of these games are owned by the same company I've been talking about above.

At least their not Activison. They do everything bad EA does, and then take a running jump at yet more evil. And I used to think EA was the worst it could get.

If this is true, it makes me happy that I don't really buy EA games; my wife does like the sims but I'm not really into sports games.

Sony should've called their bluff (EA really wouldn't cut itself out of such a big portion of the market) and made custom soundtracks available anyway.

I laugh at these guys saying "just use an ipod." which is fine if you're just playing through the speakers on your tv but as I have a decent sound system I want everything to integrate.

It's not a complicated function, they should've been able to wrap their heads around it by now. Or at least make it mandatory for developers like they did with trophies. I'd rather have custom soundtracks than trophies.

EA again ? thank god that rockstar said no to merge with them as for custom sound track ,just use your boom box or stereo for that ,and x game chat would be distracting and is a waste of time to bring it , i think thet should update their web browser, the xmb is fine and condemn ps home

What ever helps you sleep at night I guess.
Pretty much...

Next week they can blame Activision/Blizzard for some huge cockup, and pat themselves on the back for being so damn cool...
This.

Also,

EA hates gamers they screwed all of us with vista 64 bit by releasing 2 C&C games that didn;t work for 64 bit...
I have Vista 64-bit, and all the CnC games work for me. All of them.

Frankly, I couldn't stand playing online without the party system on Xbox LIVE. Talking to friends instead of hearing squeaky idiots complain when they get ruined, across different games? Hell yes.

The music thing, it's nice, but not as important.

Would "X-Chat", as the PS3 fans/fanboys call it, really change much? As far as I've seen, not that many PS3 owners use mics that often.
