Well, I did tell Fredrick from Vietnam not to make the model look so similar but apparently he was forced to.

OT: There should be some leeway with most copyright infringement but that's more copyright theft! No excuse for that!

I like how apparently this one designer is now the whole of EA.

Kinda like how although I'm just the Information Assistants Assistant at work, because I did some writing for the Summer Schools I'm actually the whole of the organisation.

How much input/power/pull do you think this guy has?

I doubt EA activley said "Mwahaha lets rip off warhammer for the evlulz!" I think they hired a designer who copied them, not EA.

Have they further ruined Command and Conquer by adding 40K shit to it? Ergh.
40k is leagues above C&C. Most of C&C is average or good, while 40k has excellent books, miniatures etc.

Although those new dark eldar and necron are taking a similar turn as some of C&C.

Souls encased in robots driving a soul encased in a giant cannon? The necrons used to be almost scary.

Also Matt Ward.|
I used to be REALLY into C&C - I think it is a really intruding idea how half of it was based on the myth of Cain, and the post apocalyptic Tiberium scenario was actually really cool. The cyberpunk like NOD versus the futuristic GDI was also very cool, and the Scrin were cool too (I haven't played past Tiberian Sun mind you). The whole thing revolving around Tiberium and everyone never knowing what Kane was up to was just really cool.

40K is entirely different - the two should never be compared or mixed because they're so vastly different.

Well hopefully Games workshop takes them to court and sue's the shit out of them. That should make for some great popcorn fun. God they didn't even try to change the tanks at all.

I disagree. You take Tiberian Sun, Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert and you supersize it and you have something comparable to 40k. There's religion, a lot of war, death and destruction and sci-fi in both.
Red Alert is just Cold War x10000000000000 and it's pretty comical.
Tiberian Sun and Dawn are pretty much about fighting for a new resource which is actually killing the planet - it could be compared to oil in a modern day world. There's stuff about evolution with Kane's big tiberium bomb too though.

40K stopped making interesting commentary long ago and apart from Dan Abnett novels, is now just an excuse to have power armoured space marine porn. It's a giant galaxy spanning epic war setting, but C&C is somewhat grounded in reality, Tiberian Dawn was pretty recognisable as the 90s, whilst further games are just a post apocalyptic version of that. 40K makes no references to anything from our modern day time.

At least on the bright side the Baneblade is an awesome tank. I wonder if they're gonna copy the Leman Russ next?

EA were counting on them being "forgotten" designs.

Never mind that these tanks have nothing to do with previous Command & Conquer canon. This is a new low. Tiberium Alliances will probably be worse than Tiberium Twilight. And that's a difficult endeavour.
The worst part to that is if they consider the Baneblade a forgotten design. This isn't the Dark Age of Technology People, the Baneblade hasn't changed that much!
It's been 3 years since i quit 40K, and that tank still makes me happy.

Ot: Sue the crap outa them GW.

You glorious bastards.

Did GW properly buy the rights from Armourcast, or did they die out or go into limbo?

That's the funny thing about what Games Workshop did to Armourcast. If they didn't go through the proper channels, then EA could actually come out of this with Games Workshop, and to a lesser extent THQ.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Armorcast's stuff just GW's 5mm stuff scaled up? Even if there were legal nonsense surrounding whatever happened between them, the designs are still GW's.

I think you guys are overreacting.
Didn't you notice the additional machine gun on top of the Grinder turret? Not at all like the Bonecrunchas vision slit!
Also, the Bombard Tank has waaaaay shorter barrels than the Baneblade. And did you notice the headlights? They're rectangular! And their housing is held in place by two rivets each! I don't see any rivets on that flimsy Baneblade's headlights!

On a more serious note though, when I first saw the artworks, i thought "well, looks like they put some WH40k Laser Cannons on YR's Grinder tank. Oh hey, the other one kinda reminds me of my brother's Leman Russ..."

I might have to add that the Leman Russ is kinda the only Imperial Battletank I know.

Woohoo! Legal troubles for EA. Maybe. Hopefully.
There is no legal trouble unless the game is released. Pursuing legal action against copyright infringement when no profit has been made is a difficult course. Generally, a cease and desist order is sent instead and the offending content is removed.

Now, if you want to talk about obvious stealing, look at early Battletech designs (Marauder, Warhammer, Battlemaster, etc) and compare them to a notable anime released earlier. . .

It's ok, GW already steals from their customers.
Zing.

When coming into this thread and seeing the first pictures I was like:
"How can you steal it? It's just a tan-...Yep, sue 'em."

Wow, it took me a second to figure out whose tank was whose tank, and I've been playing 40k for a couple years now. That... that can't be good.

Ouch, those are copies and not even "*Wink Wink* see its not the same" copies. Well maybe after GW sues EA they can do a price drop.

Boy, the sheeple sure do enjoy finding reasons to "hate" EA. Which is funny, because they'll all still buy their products. It's cute how people on the internet throw around words at the slightest provocation, chuck a little tantrum, rant for a week and and then open their wallets and make new releases push sales records sky high.

Wonder what it'll be cool to hate next...
