The better question is why the fuck should we have confidence in Bioware?
They just murder their series to make them bland to appeal to baboons who cant be asked to do anything more difficult then pushing an awesome button over and over again.

Honestly, they lost players left and right and expect us to shut up and take it.
End of the day there is nothing but hate in my heart for Bioware.

I wont even call them that anymore.
Bioware made Dragon Age Origins, Jade Empire, KOTOR, Baulder's Gate, and Mass Effect 1.
BiowarEA made DA2, ME2, ME3, and TOR.

Not exactly anything worth being proud of.

You own the studio and they do make bank but it's hard to believe you feel "confident" in anybody when you contribute in calling the shots rather you admit to it or not.

I believe this is what we would call being "overconfident". If EA doesn't stop pushing people's buttons (which there is little sign that they will) then Bioware may turn into a shell of what they once were.

Personally, I'm not sure what's worse.

That statement reminds me of that scene in TDKR, where the president says "People of Gotham, we have not abandoned you" and Gordon is, like, "This means we're on our own".

This makes me think of a Reel Big Fish song... Now where is...? Ah!

Is that song of Cheer Up? I've got that album but it ain't got that song on it.
The Youtuber put in the wrong cover. We apologize for the inconvenience.

That EA feels the need to express confidence in BioWare at all is troubling, especially given their track record.

As for BioWare themselves, I find I can't condemn them outright: mistakes have been made, I don't think anyone can deny that, but they've gotten a lot of things right too. Who cares about repetitive dungeons in DA2 when Isabela and Aveline are having the most hilarious discussion about Donnic's habits in bed? ME3's ending was a little harder to forgive (to this day I can't listen to the Catalyst without gritting my teeth), but I respect the intent behind the Extended Cut and so much of that game provoked emotional reactions for me - Thane's death, Tali drunk-dialing Javik, the amazing love scene with Kaidan, etc.

And really, it's not like we should be romanticizing BW's past either - "Baldur's Gate" and "Jade Empire" were and still are fantastic games, but they were guilty of the occasional misstep too. But their games have developed over time, and some aspects clearly have evolved for the better: look at how morality works in BG2 (evil is punished even though it's an option), in DA:O (separate approval for every companion based on their characterization) and in ME3 (one Reputation bar means you aren't penalized for being Paragon in some situations and Renegade in others). Look at how same-sex romance has gone from being something that needed active metagaming (JE) to honest portrayals that are fully equal to heteronormative relationships (DA2, ME3).

So for me, it comes down to one question: what are they going to do next? What lessons have they learned from recent mistakes? What's their next opportunity to demonstrate progress? If they can show me that kind of upward mobility, it'll be easier to forgive them when they stumble along the way.

On the other hand, if Bioware had been owned by Activision instead, there wouldn't be a Bioware anymore. This news post would have been Bioware being closed.
I would almost prefer that, at least Bioware's death would be quick and clean not slow and having various body parts flying off and doing unspeakable things (Bioware Command and Conquer game anyone?)

Regardless of what the forums or what the generally gaming community has to say, Bioware is still a successful developer. They aren't going to be dying any time soon.
The NAME Bioware could still be considered successful yes, (for how long that remains true could be debatable with EA sticking it on everything.) The company itself, you could make a good argument that it's still going strong. Its just that it traded in allot of goodwill and mulitple IPs in order to do so.

Am I seriously the only person that not only enjoyed Dragon Age 2 and Mass effect 3, but thought they were both absolutely incredible games that showed a great deal of astounding work was put into?

I still put the Dragon Age games as my favorite RPGs of all time.

Dragon Age 2 was just a trip in their path, then they got Mass Effect 3, which got fanboys pissed, meanwhile the people who just wanted to play a shooter got what they wanted. The Old Republic (in my opinion) was awful, but from my before trying it standpoint, it was just another Bioware game. People didn't like it as much as they'd hoped, but they still stand, and allowed more people to check it out.

Bioware's not going away anytime soon, but they should probably be wary of their steps. They make too many mistakes and NO ONE will want their games anymore. EDIT: E.A.'s support will help them, but not for much longer if they keep falling down.

I just know that Bioware's track record BEFORE EA was MUCH better than their track record AFTER EA.

Who has confidence in who again?

So TOR might be going F2P, but still no Mac support? Just let me play the terrible game, please...
