Indeedie. Victory over an old, cancer-addled man... yeah... not the gaming community's finest hour.SharPhoe said:The fact that he still holds to what he originally posted and is now pretty much saying "If I knew you would all get so uppity about it, I would've kept my mouth shut" doesn't make me feel TOO much better, but I guess that's the best we're going to get out of Ebert, so okay.
Hear, hear.Caligula_II said:I like Ebert, really. I respect his opinion on movies. I was really annoyed about how everyone jumped down his throat about his comments on video games. Leave him alone, he's entitled to his opinion, though I do disagree. He has nothing to apologize for.
It is quite possible a game could someday be great Art
I'm glad Ebert decided to -adjust- his statement. I do not dislike the guy, but I want to emphasize that he only modified his statement; he didn't retract it.I don't know what they can learn about another human being that way, no matter how much they learn about Human Nature. I don't know if they can be inspired to transcend themselves. Perhaps they can. How can I say? I may be wrong
He isn't apologizing for his belief. He shouldn't have to. What he's apologizing for is stating his opinion as fact. He SHOULD have kept it to himself, because he doesn't know shit about the genre, but that doesn't mean he can't have that particular opinion.
I do not believe Mr Ekit was using the word "care" in that sentence. You should have noticed, Mr. Thin, that there is eight times the letter "e" is used in Mr. Ekit's posts.Mr Thin said:Why do people care about what you think?Ekit said:Why do people car about what Ebert thinks?
Not to be rude or anything but...
Isn't he just (another) old, senile man attacking a medium he admitted himself knows nothing about?
Not to be rude or anything but...
Aren't you just (another) faceless, young, inexperienced man attacking a person you clearly know very little about?
