Awesome! Also, do we happen to know the rules about alcohol consumption in the hostel...
Consume alcohol in the pub first.
What if you are doing a me and bringing Alcohol with you on the train for consumption in London?
Quite frankly, even with the extra cost due to silly London prices, it's far nicer to sit around in a pub being social over some pints than covertly sneaking the odd tin.
True. I was only going to bring one large bottle of cider anyway.
You can drink on the overland trains still but you can't drink on London public transport anymore (tubes and buses).

If you want a nice pub nearby (at London student prices) there is The Rocket at 120 Euston Road (google it, can't be bothered to inbed map!) its right in between Kings Cross and Euston stations so its pretty well signposted.

Ok people, is it too late for an escapist noob to shamelessly scrape in?

I live in London and am free, so....

I can pay for whatever meself.

If it's too late to join in, then fine, but I known this community is full of loving, friendly people.... *shameless puppy eyes*

(oh and if its too late to join certain activities, i.e. can't join paintball last minute or whateva, that's fine)
i dont see why you cant join in, sadly all activities are full :( but not everyone is doing those anyway XD as long as you warn us you're coming beforehand it should be fine~

you shoul probably warn Geek@Heart, since on the Sat i'll be leaving early with the paintballers, so she'll be the one meeting you guys ^-^

i doubt it...

we can always check on the day, but i highly doubt it XD we can always go to a nearby pub though

[small]or, (although i disapprove XD) you can sneak a tiny bit in, as long as they never see the empty bottle/can[/small]
Yeah, didnt think they would let us...though definitely worth enquiring. And I think if we did sneak some in (would be pretty easy with rucksacks) we'd probably be getting pretty noisy and hence likely to get caught.

We'll just have to pub it then!

Guys, seeing as we have under 18's staying at the hostel, I'm saying no alcohol actually at the hostel. You can go out and get as drunk as you like, just don't bring any in with you.

Edit - obviously I can't stop you bringing alcohol in unless they have a no alcohol policy (which I will check on the day), however it's worth remembering that we'll have to pay for any damage caused, and I don't want to lose my part of the deposit.

If they have a no-alcohol policy, then obviously it's stupid for us even to attempt taking alcohol in-we may well get caught, the non-drinking members of Escapism UK will get pissed off at us, and that combination is not condusive to a fun drinking experience :D

However, if they do allow alcohol, and there is adequate space in the hostel for us all, then because of the price comparison between bought alcohol and pub alcohol (roughly 1 pint = 4 cans of cider) then it seems a much more logical decision to drink at the hostel, as long as we don't buy enough to get us totally hammered and end up doing things we'll regret (including breaking things).

I would of thought the more regrettable thing would be sleeping with a fellow Escapist, or would that be awesome? I'm not sure, would certainly be awkward at breakfast though...

*p.s excuse to bump*

Okay, fair point. But we still need to check with the hostel as to whether it's allowed.

I highly doubt there will be much sleeping with other Escapists. There are 3 girls going (as far as I know) and I'm not sure that any of us are likely to have a one night stand. Two of us have never been kissed, so.....

You're welcome. I might be going to it as well: depends on whether I can get down to Philly come October.
