I don't mind blood. Actually, at the moment, I have to go and make someone bleed. And I am being serious about that.

If I haven't eaten anything and feel really weak, then a lot of blood makes me feel dizzy.

Otherwise, and this is a big otherwise, I'm fine. People get massive cuts/cut off the end of a finger and I'm normally OK, and I bandage the hell out of them or take them to the hospital.

But one time, I hadn't eaten all day, and some guy cut off the end of his finger and I felt really dizzy.

Strangely though, I've bled severely many times and never felt queazy at the sight of my own blood.

First of all, good for you.

Secondly, that guy twitching after he's fainted. Could easily be me.

Tips: Eat a reasonable amount, drink a lot, take it slow, keep yourself occupied while they draw it out. Afterwards, give yourself time to recover.
How much time..? xD

I'm back from giving blood, got dizzy and almost fainted again Dx

They say if I go back one more time and still get really dizzy, they'll have to ask me to stop going ;_;

But I did it anyways, I think I deserve a rest :D

You should only panic if your bleeding like the guy who got shot in the head from the opening to Tropic Thunder

Whenever I bleed for whatever reason, I don't mind,

But when someone else is bleeding, or is talking about blood in anyway,I get dizzy and my muscles won't work properly. Like right now.

Blood in video games dosn't have that effect on me for some reason

I am squeamish at medical stuff. Blood I can handle. Needles, blood bags, even just first aid and crap, I faint at.

im not really bothered by it that much([small]games anime and movies have done a pretty good job of desensitizing me to blood, also because of my job i see it quite often...[/small]), also, heres something you can think about, a mate of mine told me it when he was gettin shitfaced, well anyway, what he said was a rather strange analogy for things like this, he said, "...its like when ya lerk at yer own shite in der khazeh, its not as gross as when ya lerk at somebody's elses..."
[sup]those are his exact words mind you...[/sup]

as for the tips thing, i dont really know, dont think of it as blood? i remember doing that when i was a kid, it kinda helped me out...

I don't care about blood; my blood, someone else's blood, fake blood, real blood.
But it's GORE that gives me the jibblies. I can stand it if it's in a videogame because I can reason with myself that it's not real. But other than that, I might as well vomit on the spot. You know, stuff like guts flying everywhere, skin ripping, and... Ugh. Excuse me I have to go lie down. I grossed myself out. XP

Well you should be ok I think, just stay calm, it is just a needle. The first time I gave blood I almost passed out too because my body didn't know what to expect, the second time I had adapted and barely noticed the change, just drink the Gatorade they give you... see if you can get fruit punch though, I got stuck with lemon and it was ewwwww.

I can't give any better tips than what's been said, but I can say well done on doing something so selfless, a good way to enter the Christmas season I think.

Considering how often I seem to manage to get cuts it'd be too much of an inconvenience for me to be squeamish.

I haven't seen anyone else's blood in a long time so I can't really say if others bothers me, I don't imagine it would though.

Drink lots of fluids (i.e. water) before going for donation. Water will help keep your blood pressure up preventing people from getting light headed.
hmm, good thinking, I didn't drink much the first time xD

Edit: .. Does Pepsi or Tango count? I don't like water on its own :0
Man up and only drink water. Pop does bad things to your blood.

Just wondering how many people are squeamish at the sight of blood?

Today I'm giving blood in town (I always give blood around Christmas, dunno why), and I'm a little scared of needles too, so I always look away. But I'm not scared to look at my blood.

It's a little weird, if I'm bleeding, It doesn't bother me all that much, but if I see someone else's blood, I spazz and panic. xD

On a side note, I almost fainted last time and had to lie down (One other guy had a small fit O-o Scared the crap outta me, apparently he hadn't eaten or something) So anyone got any tips on how to prepare myself as well? ^^
I used to find it kind of unnerving, but I think I've grown out of that. I was recently involved in a little incident concerning an older bloke, a set of stairs and a rather rapid, head first, descent. He cracked his head open and it was blood all over the place, but it didn't bother at all.

The guy is all right by the way, it looked scary but he was awake all the time apart from a short black out right after the fall, so we just sat there, covering the cracks, making jokes while waiting for the ambulance.

I'm more impressed by blood, the more of it the better the wound and I take pride in my scars.

Yeah, that kind of how i feel about the subject. I mean, i guess i am kinda squemish of blood... and needles... and injections. For example i almost fainted one time i had to give blood for some analyses. And i remember about two other times when i started feeling weak and getting light headed after hearing some discussions about blood. One of those times i actually fainted.
It does not happen all the time though, which is somewhat strange. Sometimes i'm ok with the subject, at other times, i'm not. As for real life wounds, especially serious ones, thankfully i have not yet had to deal with any. But i'm pretty sure i couldn't handle it.
As far as advice, though, i'm sorry but i have no idea.
