From what I hear, the new Spongebob movie is... GOOD!

Shocking, I know! Apparently the original creator of the show (who left the series after season 3, AKA the point when the show's quality took a nosedive) wrote it, and the humor is very much like the first 3 seasons. Some people were turned off by the 3D animation they advertised but apparently that's only 20 minutes of the movie. I doubt it's a masterpiece but as someone who was a fan of the show at first and VERY disappointed with season 4 and on, I'm kind of itching to see it! Has anyone checked it out? Is it really such a welcome return to form?

If you're wondering about the plot... well, just guess.

It's really silly and funny, and you'll love it if you're a fan of the early seasons. All of the characters are back to their original characterisations for the most part and the film is mostly hand-drawn, which is another plus. Once those notes SpongeBob plays on his nose in the show's intro start to play, you'll fall in love with the movie. That's just my way of describing the movie in a short way.

It's as good as the first movie, as good as the TV show -- it's more SpongeBob. If you like SpongeBob, you'll like it. If you don't, then it's not going to change your mind.

Well, I know I'm not the only one who thinks the TV show WAS good for the first three seasons, but pretty terrible afterward. However I did think the first movie was good.

I'm sold. I just don't know why they couldn't have done this 10 years ago! (Oh my god I just realized it's been over ten years since the first movie I feel OLD)

I haven't seen it, but I remember when I saw the trailer and thought, "what the fuck is this?!"

I was a huge fan of the older Spongebob episodes and liked the first movie, but I hate the newer episodes, so instinctively I saw this and thought it was gonna be along the lines of the newer episodes. But as I heard that the older writers were working on it, I became curious, but still a bit skeptical. Glad to know that it actually turned out pretty good, so maybe I'll eventually see it.
