El Shaddai: Quintessential case of "overhyped"

The stupid browser hijack ad at the top annoys the hell out of me. I click to close, go back to what I'm doing and the ***** re-expands. Then when I want to conveniently scroll using middle mouse click, I middle click the background ad and open a new tab for it. All the obnoxious advertising makes me shun the hell out of the game and not give it a chance.

I just looked around, and apparently Eurogamer gave it a 9/10.

I wasn't aware it was getting all that hyped at all, honestly. I knew I wanted to buy it though. It looks fuckin' crazy (and pretty much is, from the demo) and I have a soft-spot in my heart for video game takes on real-world mythologies.

I'm interested to play it, but I'll probably wait a month or two. Even if it's not a great game, I'm going to at least rent it to check out the art style; I can always buy it later if I like it.

Also, I don't think it's been over-hyped; I've only seen two mentions of it before this month. It seems to have temporarily taken over the Escapist, but it's not like that's an uncommon occurrence for an upcoming game.

I'm mad that one of the ads, the one down there (v), is causing me to lag every time I go on the escapist. It looks interesting, but not enough to justify that...

I like the style and hopefully the story is good. But the gameplay needed some work. Just in the sense that its too easy. One button attack?

I'm not really interested in it, but I did play the demo, and it looks like quite an experience. Something that's probably 500 times better on acid.

You could say that about plenty of games, like BulletStorm, Halo or Oblivion. Though I don't know much about this game, I'd wager that someone may play the game while high just to see what it's like or to even prove you right.

Yeah, you could, but this time it's really applicable.

I was interested after playing the demo, but I thought it was going to be a downloadable game due to the simplistic battle system and lost interest when I found out it's a full game (= full price). While I was interested it was never my most anticipated game.

Edit: I realize this sounds very shallow and it saddens me. I had other full games I was looking forward to at the time which pushed El Shaddai off my "caring" radar.

I played the demo, and it was meh. The style's pretty cool, kind of Okami-esque, but the gameplay itself was just boring and tedious.

I fall into this catagory, the only reason I know it exists is because of the Escapist having some kind of badge hunt with it.
I didn't realise it was a game until now.

The demo was fun, but all the trailers I've seen for it made it seem uninteresting. Besides, I already promised myself I'd only buy two more games this year lol. Skyrim and Dark Souls! I'm hoping to get RAGE for Christmas. xD
