Aremir shrugged his shoulders as he followed the others. "But you're a comrade, no? No point in hurting you."
Dro'Araaj considered this, he had heard of hunters trying to skin his kind and make coats or even armor out of them, they usually met an untimely end, particularly if they were conducting such hunts in Elsweyr. He'd certainly heard the threat of being skinned alive several times by hunters pursuing him, but they had lasted even less time than they usually did.

"This one is grateful for such a consideration, but you should be advised that it is dangerous to hunt his kind, we have sharp claws and are much more capable than we seem, besides a coat made of us would smell terrible," he said, if this hunter wanted to get himself killed trying to assemble a rather barbaric set of clothing that was his choice, but so long as he left Araaj and his family alone in this endeavor then he could care less.

"You lot travel as merchants outside of Elsweyr, no sport in that. But here, even your kind breaks the law. You won't take offense if I kill a bandit, would you?" Aremir explained himself to his khajit companion. No, he wouldn't need to skin a Khajit, but he would require something else off their corpse...

"You have something special I need, but I can't ever ask for it nicely."

"I assure you if you're making a fertility drug then I'd try the orsimer instead, we get a bit prickly down there," Araaj said jokingly, he wasn't certain what the man meant by that, but regardless preying on khajiit in their homeland was foolish. Besides the trip was taking them out of Elsweyr so he would have little time to "hunt them sportingly" as it were.

It seemed like the rest of the group was leaving now? What was the point in the posters if...?
Best to just ignore their methods, and go with it. Arlo glanced down at his sword. It was at around half charge last time he checked, he'd need to fill up in the next town.
Arlo filed in next to the Imperial with the katan, who seemed more useful than the Bosmer and the Khajiit.
"What are we delivering?" He asked, not wanting to mince words.

"A Fer- what?", Aremir was both intrigued and disturbed by what he had just heard. One the one hand, the prospects for such a thing can be quite lucrative, but on the other....
Aremir shook that thought off his mind and tried to snap back into the conversation, maybe change the topic to something less murderous.

"No. I didn't want to hear that...Anything special you have planned for this trip?", Aremir asked the Khajit, hoping to hear some alchemy dribble so he will have an excuse to shut his mind down and take a nap while walking.

"Its fine, this one won't tell anyone, happens to a lot of men," he said, grinning broadly, very clearly joking.

He considered the question for a few seconds before responding more seriously "This one just wants to travel, the money is nice too of course, but at this one's age he just wants to see as much of the world as he can before he dies."

He didn't mention the hunters hircine sent after him, how staying in one spot got people around him hurt, or that the enchanted werewolf fang around his neck was what said hunters were sent to claim. The man looked too much like he would be the sort to try and take it from him.

Enthir looked over to see if Arlo caught up yet. ''The poster said expedition, but to sate your appetite it's something that's been in my possession for quite some time now'' he said, hoping Arlo wouldn't press for any further information.

"Well, that's all well and good, but-" Arlo stepped in front of Enthir, putting a hand on his chest, stopping him.
"That answers nothing, and I need to know I'm not transporting something that can hurt somebody. Your Breton and Khajiit look like nice people, but that means nothing. Tell me now, or I will be forced to stop you." Arlo's other hand dropped to his scimitar.

Enthir grinned slightly, ''You can't be serious, you don't even know where exactly we're taking these items. Since they can fit in a bag they are certainly not weapons if that's what you mean. A dagger or a few arrows maybe but all of us carry them freely so it would be redundant.'' He ignored Arlo for a moment and pushed past him while pulling out a leaflet from him pocket. ''Besides, did you even read the notice? It clearly stated that the contents you are to deliver are on a strict need to know basis.''

Croaker had been watching the tension growing in the room with the eagerness of watching a favorite pet doing a new trick all on its own.

"Hmm...," Croaker started thinking aloud, pacing, "The growing tension seems thicker than any normal blade could handle. Odd. For something that was apparently harmless. Something important in there..."

He trailed off, and studied the original pair carefully for their reaction.

"Weapons are not the most dangerous thing you could be delivering..." Arlo never took his gaze off the old man, and when the older tried to push past him, Arlo grabbed him by the back of the neck.
"I'm not giving you the benefit of the doubt here, tell me what it is." Arlos other hand dropped back to his sword.

Arlo shifted his gaze towards the old Breton,
"My thoughts exactly, please tell me you see why I must be cautious?" Arlo gripped the blades hilt, ready to take the blade out if need be.

Endya approached Arlo angrily ''When you joined you knew you wouldn't get all information from the outset so stop trying to siphon more information out of him, we're not even out the door yet and already your questioning our motives? Maybe this job isn't for you.'' she said, knocking past him out the door.

Aremir stopped in his tracks and signaled the khajit next to him to hold as well. He looked back and saw the rest of the party still lagging behind. Something was keeping them away, but Aremir couldn't have guessed it.

"Lets wait for them, shall we?".

Croaker checked his bow, quiver, and various supplies one last time before heading out after the original pair.

"Well, whatever you've got in there," he chimed after them, "seems like its bound to be far too interesting for me to sit this one out." Croaker was already jotting down mental notes on the previous conversation.

"Your bow... is that yew?", he asked the breton.

Croaker adjusted his hood so that it put more of his face in shadow and checked his gloves again before fetching his bow from its 'holster' on his back and rapping it gently with his right knuckle.

"I don't know," he answered, "I don't think its wood, but I really don't know. It was a gift..."

Croaker trailed off, his shaded glasses obscuring the somber and far-off look in his eyes. He frowned, remembering times long past.

Never thought I'd outlive Her. Damn it.

The group stepped out into a narrow street with a dark alley one way and what appeared to open up into the marketplace the other way ''Alright, this way people, we'll pick up supplies here and then head north.'' Joncis called over to those still in the inn, making his way to the crowded square.

The marketplace served as a sort of city centre. A statue stood at the centre of the square with inscriptions of Manes that have been born in Corinthe. To the north and east were two wide streets that led out of the city, with refugees piling around those areas and some even spilling outside the city gates.
Most of the square was cleared for recreation, as well as a few public wells near the statue. Small groups of Khajiit would huddle around each other and play cards or drink skooma, and seemed unphased by the dusty marble they sat on. The actual merchants area itself was quite large, many stations seemed to be temporary and could easily be disassembled and packed onto elephants or horses as part of a caravan. Towering over the square to the south was the Corinthian palace, reserved only for the most upper class of citizens.

''Alright, buy what you think you'll need, meet me by the Northern gates when you're ready. We'll be heading off soon.'' Joncis said, heading over to what appeared to be a grocers.

"Hmm...," Croaker checked his supplies, they looked like they'd hold for a few days... if he were travelling alone, "I'd better get some more twine and stiches, meet everyone back here by sundown?"

Croaker continued to examine his supplies to see what else he would need before venturing off.

Aremir nodded in agreement and decided to restock his supply of smoking material. Bosmer goods were hard to come by, but perhaps he could catch a break. If anything fails, he could always use the inferior local version if he's attentive enough to his surroundings.
