Thirdly, the Emperor's sons are hated by many, especially in the Capital. Many believed his sons were doggelgangers, placed by Jagar Thorn to bring ruin to the Empire. They even charged the guards in an attempt to kill them. Now this started happening six years ago! Yet strangely everyone, everywhere in Cyrodiil is sad and mourns their deaths. Had Bethesda explained in a book or something how this came about than this would be all and well and good but they didn't so it's not.

When somebody dies even if they were disliked we say we're sad, plus they don't say "we are sad" they say "we are scared".

As far as lore goes it does seem a little odd that some books say one thing (Arcana restored being the prime example) but something else happens in-game making you all mixed up.

You do have points and thinking about them I'm with you, however the game isn't as bad as made out in this rant.

Its not BAD though. I have played far worse games that literally had me wanting to bash my head through a wall and Oblivion wasn't like that to me. For what it was meant to do, make a more accessable rpg for casual gamers, it does the job. And it does have a kind of charm to it. Perhaps its because of all the great mods available for it that make me still appreciate and play it.

And in a few ways it was good (not having to cheat to open locked doors like in Morrowind for instance, by adding an easier lockpicking experience)

But looking back at Morrowind and expecting an improvement on all the things they added in that game and then playing Oblivion and watching Bethesda go in that direction, when I was and still am a hardcore Elder Scrolls fan at heart, do understand why I was so disappointed by it?
