A report from Eurogamer Denmark, Bethesda is already at work on the next in the Elder Scrolls series which is set to be a direct sequel to Oblivion. I'm stoked to hear this and already am looking forward to Bethesda's official confirmation of it.
I got the news from Xbox360Achievements.com.

Already a news article buddy.

Too bad Oblivion was rather boring and in no need of a direct sequel at all.
It's still not clear how they'll do 'direct sequel'.
They may just mean that it's number 5, and not an mmo.

I mean, a direct story continuation doesn't necessarily have to take place in the same part of the world.

Who didn't know they've been working on TES:V all this time? There aren't many other candidates for their "secret title" unless you're of the opinion that they really were going to publish three Fallout titles in a row.

At this point, I'm just dying for the actual reveal.

Most fans of the Elder Scrolls acknowledge that Oblivion was a mess, but would it really be worth throwing away such a fascinating world because of a misstep? I still have my hopes up for them making compromises between their older fans and the new ones.

I think Fallout 3 helped them figure out scaling and random events, New Vegas introduced the "hardcore" mode, and Todd Howard said in an interview that better animation has been a focus. If Bethesda can pull off a more engaging story (which I consider them fully capable of) in conjunction with these other improvements, I can certainly envision TES having another great title under its belt.

I wouldn't say that it was a mess, but it certainly was a case of 'one step forward, two steps back'

Still, OMFGWTFSEMICOLON! More Elder scrolls! Woot!

SacreBleu!

*paces back and forth in exitement*

I can't wait!

I'm happy they didn't ditch The Elder Scrolls series, in favor of Fallout.

Sure Fallout has it's charm, but it can't beat The Elder Scrolls!

Now all we can hope for is that they don't use the GameBryo Engine *shakes fist in frustration!*
