I was just wondering how that situation was with everyone. Due to so many being home-electricians, there has to be some fun stories to tell. Please do share. I'd love to hear those stories.

You know, since it's never on purpose to get an electric shock (Unless you're some kind of masochist, I guess), there's allways something interesting to tell about how and why you got yours.

Also the feeling. I haven't heard too many diffrent descriptions, but I've heard a couple. I guess it's only a matter of how someone are at explainging stuff. But if you don't mind, please try to share how it feels to you too.

And you know. Others might learn from you bad luck too =P

Now I'll start with my first hand-to-hand electric shock. It was when I was working on a lamp with the power on. We couldn't turn it off, due to the circuit having EDB that was too important to be shut off. So I were disconnecting the wires, and were trying to pull them out of the lamp. So I was holding the lamp, as I pulled the cable out. Accidently I touched one of the wires, wich resultet in the shock. It was from phase to ground, though. And 220V, so nothing major. I just remembered feeling the electricity going from my middle finger on the left hand, up through my arm, shoulder adn neck. To then go down the other arm, wrist and then out through my thumb. Since that was my first shock, it was very scary. I was sure I had some kind of permanent damage.
Now that was luckily not the case. I also remember my arm shaking quite a bit when getting this shock.
Even though it was not very painfull, I really don't recomend it =P You know, you feel your heart rate go up about a million, and you're breathing quite heavily. At least I was.

I've also had quite a couple of lamp-holder-incidents. Wich is .. Tickly at the most =P

Do you have anything. I'd love to hear it =D

I grabbed hold of an electric fence once, luckily it wasn't high powered (Only really meant to deter sheep.), but you could still definitely feel it. It was like having an uncontrollable, and violent shiver in my right arm, and yet my arm was numb. It didn't hurt during the shock, but it throbbed a bit afterwards.

No a life-threatening thing, by any means.

Peed on a letric fence while drunk. Oh and during my short time as a electrician my boss managed to cause a entire metal building in the saw mill to go live... That was funny as hell.
Peed on a electric fence .. Ouch =P
I've only touched one. ANd with that I fell to the ground =P (I was quite young, mind you)

Short time as an electrician? How?

The one time I got a serious shock it felt like being hit all over with a big stick at the same time.
My grandfather got hit by lightning seven times, and then died when he was hit by a car.

I accidentally placed my finger on a prong of a power cord as I was pulling it out, before it broke the connection. The only thing that happened was that my arm suddenly jerked back and almost wrenched out of my shoulder. It was... interesting to sa the least.

yeah, the only electric shock I think I've ever had (barring the occasional electric fence and, once, a physical therapy electroshock machine that shocked the piss out of my arm) happened when I was 5. I stuck a paperclip into one side of a wall socket. I got quite a nasty phase to ground shock, and it gave me the jitters and a burn on my knee where the current was grounded.
Needless to say, I never did that again.

I once got a small shock pulling out a cable that wasn't turned off, but nothing worse than that. One where I didn't get shocked, but scared the crap out of me though, I was working on somebodies computer and it seemed to be about fixed, apart from the obvious starting to fail more and more often (they could not afford a new one at the time). However the computer had none of this, as I plugged in a USB drive it decided to go out in a show of glory. A loud crack was heard and sparks flew everywhere. I don't think I could of moved faster to turn off the power switch.

Haha. That reminds me of when I, my brother and my cousine were playing games on the computer. My younger brother were upstairs, and he had insterted the water hose into the vent channel. And the vent outlet insede was above the computer. Friggin' hell that was some sparks!

Well, I have a gas stove, and little electric pulses are used to start the gas. So, I was cooking for a few hours straight, and the damn thing kept going, "Click, Click, Click!"
I didn't realise how damn strong the electrical current was when I took a knife to the damned thing.

I used to have an electrical outlet beside my bed when I was twelve that had no cover on it. More than once I woke up to a zap because I touched it. My arm was sore the whole day after, but it wasn't too bad.

My old Sony TV (well, my parent's) didn't like me. It zapped me several times.

Oh, and I did feel a strange sensation when I was a boy. I tried to see "what will happen if I try to unscrew the graphic card when the PC is still on". Thank God the card was okay. I wasn't. This taught me a valuable lesson - never listen to anyone. Even to yourself.

Pretty much the same, but the fence I grabbed hold of was meant to keep out (or in, I guess) cows. As the electricity in these fences pulsates to save money, I grabbed it when there was no power and I thought that this was a breeze, when suddenly my arm shot violently backwards. I was... Surprised, to say the least.

And some other time my younger brother (three years old at the time) put two nails into an electrical outlet. Ouch.

I only remember one time I had an electric shock. My bedside lamp was without a bulb and I was just watching TV and fiddling with the electrical socket in the lamp not paying any attention to what I was doing until I got shocked and snapped my hand away and screamed, more of shock than of actual pain I think, but it still hurt a lot.

In my old house there was a light-switch that would randomly electrocute you when it felt like it. Boy,it was fun waiting for the rest of my family to flick the switch and jump back in fright!
