So yeah, pretty much what it says in the title.

I'm not a huge X360-fanatic, but I keep one of each console in my home for journalistic purposes. Now, my 360 red ringed me. Red ringed me good. And I haven't really followed the Red Ring-phenomenon, so I'm kind of stuck.

Are there any known fixes to this problem - other than giving it to Microsoft or some random engineer, since that isn't an option right now? In case you're wondering: it red ringed as soon as I fired up the consoled, so it didn't snap because of overheating. (So I doubt that the 'towel and a fridge'-therapy my buddy suggested will do any good.)

Thanks in advance!

Check the cables are in properly if you haven't done.

May sound stupid but you'll never know. How many segments flashed up as red? A couple of them or all four?

It all depend on many light came up when it red ringed.

1 is a hardware failure and easily fixable

2 is a overheating issue so just leave it sit and you should be fine.

3 means your fucked.

4 rings means your cables are not in properly. another easy fix.

AFAIK 1 red segment is solved by pulling out the power cable from both ends and plugging it back together.

3 red segments, however, and that's the RRoD. Good luck if that's the case.

Yeah all you CAN do is give it to Microsoft, sorry mate:/

Should've done your review earlier, that's all I can say:/ unlucky.

Yeah pretty much, I don't think there are any known fixes to the three lights. You're gonna have to send it to Microsoft, but you said you can't do that. Looks like you're just gonna have to explain that it RRoD'd on you, they can't blame you for that... but they probably won't pay you.

Unlucky dude.

Microsoft should replace it for free if you phone customer support.

Is there no chance of using someone elses Xbox to finish the game you are reviewing?

Just fill the remaining space of the review with NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM.

It'll be edgy and hip and new, all the reviewers are doing things like this now-a-days.

It may still be warrantied. Call Microsoft and give them the serial number and they will tell you if they will take it.

On my first time running Fable 3, it crashed with a "Disk unreadable" error, I reset and got a 3 segment RROD. Went away in a huff and came back, started her up and it's been going OK for a few days. No problems before or after the incident. Can't see this helping you (I'm sure you've tried turning it off and on again) but I thought mine was a curious case.

I would've, but I've been having my hands full with Ghost of Sparta, a replay/FastForward of Chains of Olympus and three damn montages I had to make of a two day event! (not all bad, Jewel State was there o_O)

But yeah, unlucky indeed.

Your only hope is to try that while you wait for your box from Microsoft. If it works, you should be able to finish your review. If not, you're not getting the review done.

This. It's probably the best option. Just ask to go round for an all-nighter of playing the game and writing the review. Simples. (Well, maybe not all-nighter, but you get what I mean.)

And Don't forget to bring your hard drive along!

However, if you ARE going to buy a new 360, I strongly recommend that you look out for arcade consoles, as they're the cheapest model, and don't come with a hard drive which you don't need anyway.

So there, I hope I helped.
