I feel so old today. I heard Eminem's new single on the radio in the hairdressers today and I could have sworn he threw in the line "gluteus maximus" and instead of being shocking I felt kind of tired of him having to resort to shock tactics to impress his fans. Is Eminem an epic troll of the music industry or is he serious about the way he raps about Christopher Reeve and his stepfather on his new album? He's probably serious about the whole "gone to therapy" angle he's got going now, but to me he'll always be an epic troll, or at least I HOPE he's trolling.

He made some good music in the past and some of his new songs give some insights into the man's personality, but so far Halie hasn't been mentioned while I've been listening to the Relapse album. Maybe she's grown up and Eminem can't exactly keep rapping about her because she's probably old enough to figure out what's going on.

I dunno. The man is responsible for "Stan" and yet I can't cut him a break for one album. I mean I forgave him for Encore, but this... ehhhhh, I don't know if it's even shocking anymore, though I would like to know if he's just trolling.

I think he's better than Vanilla Ice, but I think his true stories are to an extent. :/

It was a bit risky on his first album, a bit unsettling on his second, now it's just old.

Yeah, we got it....your mom did drugs and you had a bad childhood. Kthxbye

He's no longer a rapper he's a pop star. That's what most rappers have become. There's are still come rappers who actually rap and because of that they're considered underground cause they have songs about politics and ACTUAL PROBLEMS IN THE WORLD instead of shit like gold chains and their new Phantom.

And to me the only good white rappers are the Beastie Boys and Bubba Sparxxx and my love of them is wearing thin.

"Fuck you Ms. Cheney!"

He makes my list of favorite rappers just for this.

I liked Stan and When I'm Gone.
Otherwise I don't know him or his kind that well.
But those two songs felt so emotional and deep, I'd say he's a legitimate rapper.

Rapping, performance in which rhyming lyrics are used, with or without musical accompaniment (usually with drums or electronic); while a singer performs poetry to a beat/ melody.

To be honest rap isnt a genre its a way of performing. If you would go into genres and saying "Crunk" isnt "HipHop" or something like that i would probably agree with you. But rapping is a style and has gone completely mainstream and is littering the music these days in all genres. You might not thing that dude in linking park is "HipHop" but he is rapping.

edit: just saw that i said "rap as a genre" for that i apoligize and correct that to "rapping in general"

Rap music (if it can be defined as music, being often about stupid topics with no depth in them.) is the one kind of music that i will instantly tune out once it is aired, well that and Pink.
As i've seen, the only kind of people who actually buy into it are the same ones that are the cliched online trolls

(sorry, this is like the first post ive done while pretty much asleep on my keyboard, so mind the bad structure)

Agreed. I have written many rants on rap, mainly because of the hate mail I received for the first rant about it. Don't get me wrong, yes I have problems with a lot of different types of music, but rap by far takes the cake.
