What enemy in a game do you think was the dumbest in either looks, cause or did something totally stupid(such as looking down leaving you to shoot them in the face/walking aimlessly/not realizing they are uber weak).
Can be player or npc ai

I was quite impressed by STALKER's AI for a long, long time. Right up until Red Forest, actually, and even after that, but there was one incident that stood out all the more because of the quality I came to expect.

Three enemies simultaneously taking cover. Behind the same piece of cover. And by cover I mean a collection of explosive barrels.

That went well. For me, I mean.

They are so dumb, they are really dumb...

I can't help but laugh at the cops in the GTA series games, especially those from 3 to 4. In San Andreas, for the lulz, I would hold out my chainsaw in front of me in a corner with one star and watch cops run into it. I would kill 3 or 4 before I get the second star.

A great "thick AI" moment for me comes from the great over-the-top FPS Black. Three guys come at me with heavily superior firepower, walking down the stairs - I throw a grenade but it flies over their heads and around the corner.

I assume they thought it was candy of some kind, because they drop what they're doing, turn around, and run back up to meet the grenade. It explodes, they die, and no-one learnt a lesson at all. Darwin would be proud!

Sometimes the enemies in Assassin's Creed can be so obtuse...sometimes they'll jump into the water and die all on their own. Certainly saves me some trouble. :p

The FEAR AI is pretty good... Until one of them ran up to me pointblank when I had the rocket launcher... But now that I think about it the blast did quite a bit to me as well. They might be more evil and clever then necessary.

Oh and you must not forget Metal Gear Solids AI. Cant see more then 10 feet ahead of them and their aim is pretty bad.

Neo Cortex in Crash Bandicoot 2. That has to be the easiest boss I've ever seen. He just slowly flies away, and all you have to do is cut corners a bit and spin him three times. There's a couple asteroids in the way but they're piss-easy to dodge. :/

FEAR's AI had some seriously dumb moments. I remember hiding around a corner with a shotgun while some soldiers were around. One walked into the room & got turned to mist & limbs by my shotgun, then maybe 3 seconds later another one walks in from the exact same corridor. He would have had his fellow squad member's blood on his visor, for fuck's sake.
Ya well the bugger that ran up to me came from the side of the screen so I shot him out of reflex, reducing my health and armor quite a bit from the rocket launcher explosion. I think the jackass suicide bombed me.

Absolute dumbest enemy I've seen in a game are the Light Guards in Quake 2.

In their attempt to get away from the enemy AI that knows exactly where you are as soon as they're activated (while stupid, it's really effective), id programmed the enemies in Quake 2 to go toward your last known location (i.e. where you last shot your weapon). Unfortunately, the AI had no path finding, so it wasn't unusual to enter into a room, look over to your left and see a Light Guard running into a wall.

Mind you, it wasn't unusual to see a Doom enemy caught on a wall in a vain attempt to run *toward* you, the Quake 2 guards would just be running into the middle of a flat wall at some random direction that was in no way at all facing in your direction. You could just calmly walk up behind them and put a bullet in the back of their head at your leisure.

Minecraft?

The raiders in Fallout deserve a mention though. A shared Darwin Award for everyone dressed in dirty rags and carrying knives who thought it'd be a great idea to attack a power-armoured monster with a minigun. And Operation Flashpoint has your troops doing some moronic things from time to time, which is annoying because when they do, they will die. And then so will you.

Yea but raiders can kinda be excused due to the fact that they are often drug junkies and were raised into a lifestyle which involved punching each other up all the time. So when meeting someone with a mini gun they are either too high to care or they are too pompous to care.

Uruk-Hai in battle for middle earth 2, the Lord of the Rings RTS, if you build a hero archer with maxed out range you seriously just stand out of their line of sight shooting at them, killing them one by one and they won't even move. They will stand there dying.

It's a bit old, but in Diablo you could have stuff chase you to a grate door, close it, and sit on the other side and shoot arrows through at everything while it just stood there.

It wasn't something you could always do, or something you even needed to do ever, but it was still pretty dumb.

Like AvsJoe said the cops in the GTA games. But for me it's because in the pursuit of me they could often kill far more civilians and cops than I would.

Any enemy you can kite for any amount of time.

For dumbest-looking, a lot of Final Fantasy-enemies apply, such as the cactuar.

Marines in halo 1.

Seriously, those guys would run into enemy ghosts. And off buildings. And at hunters.
