the Engineer is the only class in TF2 to not have a weapons release yet. I thought it would be cool to discuss the possible outcomes of the new weapons. What do you think they will put in/ what will they change?

I'd like to see:

A shotgun marking targets for Sentry. Using, oh say, radium or something. You can use it for covering fire or shoot opponents outside of range, but you lose your main gun and Sentry keeps shooting one place untill radium dissipates.

A six-shooter. Duh. Less ammo, slower firing and reloading speed, able to shoot Sappers off in two/three shots. Maybe some other attributes.

A wrench that... oh, i give up. Can't think up anything worthwhile.

***

A sniper Sentry. Has smaller cone of fire and more range, more damaging and durable than Level 1, cannot be upgraded.

A portable Dispenser, which is just a Dispenser mounted on a wheelbarrow. Cannot be upgraded - not to Lvl 3, at least.

Don't have any real ideas for teleporter.

Well, i started to write this up right when you posted it. Don't blame me, blame my freezing hands and slow typing speed.

The Rocket Wrench. It's a wrench with a couple of live rockets swiped from the Soldier duct taped to it. Has a 50% chance of exploding on contact. Used on buildings, it'll either boost its construction rate by 200% or explode the whole thing to Shangri-La.

I don't know. Engie seems pretty balanced to me. I'm betting the new weapons will be off the wall, like the weapon described above.

How about a wrench that builds up a definate critical if you had been using it to build stuff, but builds slightly slower or something?

Alternatively, a sentry gun.

That fires kittens.

In reality, a sentry gun with longer range but less damage would be WONDERFUL VALVE.

I don't know,I thought the whole point of limited range was so that it covered a specific area and wouldn't be so Op seeing as Sentries have perfect aim.

Maybe a sentry with two guns that could shoot in different directions of each other, and both targeted the 2 nearest enemies.maybe upgrading increases the number of guns, and one target would be targetted by just one gun, so enemies attacking in different directions would both be targetted. Also forgot to mention it has more health then normal sentries, each gun does half(or 3/4 ) of normal sentries, and the things are huge, they're more like a machine you can hide in with guns surrounding it(They have a hole in the middle which allows an engineer to jump inside and be basically protected from all sides.)

Two sentries, but with reduced (at least reduced by half) HP, and SEVERELY reduced ammo capacity. They can't be placed within a certain radius of other friendly sentries so engies can't 'double up' sentry fire. Maybe their health degrades over time or they self-destruct after a certain time limit too.

That would make the engie a lot more competitive, while at the same time providing pubster engies more incentive to do less turtling in their nest by having to move around more to tend to sentries. Also it would have the nice side-effect of making spies a bit more valuable, since spy is pretty underpowered and limited in use.

Valve seems to like designing unlocks that provide more varied and dynamic gameplay, like the demoman sword n' board, medic unlocks, etc. So something like this, while requiring tweaking, could be interesting.

Engineer-Update-As-I-Would-Like-To-See-It-V2:

A magnet-operated gun that shoots radioactive railroad spikes. Useful for marking targets, but needs to be reloaded after each shot and requires 10 metal for each shot.

A six-shooter able to destroy sappers in three shots. Long reload - so even with full clip, you can only really destroy two sappers.

An Astro-Wrench, the product of space age (and suspiciously similar to Omniwrench of Ratchet & Clank's fame - yay for thinly-veiled references). Allows you to construct buildings twice as fast as with normal wrench. Upgrades buildings by 50 metal per strike, but won't work if you have less than 50. Deals only half of melee damage, but critical hits still have full power.

***

A sniper Sentry, as i said. Has slower rotation, smaller cone of instant lock-on, and more range, more damaging and durable than Level 1, cannot be upgraded.

A Bunker Shield. Like heavy riot shields, it protects your front and a little on the sides. As tall as Heavy Weapons Guy. Much more durable than Dispenser. Has viewport, but no slot for shooting. Passable by teammates, but not enemy.

A Relocation Cart. Allows you to pick up your Sentry, Dispenser, or Shield, and move them to another place without destroying them. They take certain amount of time to pack up and deploy again, are inactive during the movement (Sentry does not fire, Dispenser does not dispense, Shield lies on a cart instead of standing), and pushing the cart slows Engineer down. Replaces Teleporter kit. It could also disable the Destruction PDA.

Different type of sentry and the ability to relocate creations a certain distance.

Oh and don't bump your own threads, they take a while to get going sometimes.

Damnit, I've seen that before, but it still took me 3 minutes to notice the ".br" which made it non-legit...

OT: They've already had the melee weapon leaked by Beta testers, it's the P.D.Q [http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/P.D.Q.]

As for the others... I'm thinking a paint gun replacement for the pistol, more ammo, less damage but puts coloured blotches on enemies, even when they're cloaked.

Maybe an EMP blast or something, similar to the Airblast but only changes the team of the explosives, does not redirect them, so the rockets still explode around you, they just don't kill your stuff.

I'd also just like to say:

[HEADING=3]If you have TF2 on the PC, there is an Escapist TF2 clan. Click here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-Team-Fortress-2-Group-PC] to join.[/HEADING]

I dunno, after they gave the demoman a claymore and a shield they threw pretty much any notion of predictability out the window.

A blunderbuss which uses metal instead of bulltets for ammo.

I call it the extermigator, to represent its original use to be to kill alligators.

Alt fire allows you to select an amount of metal per shot, 25 is fairl weak, 50 is the same as a scattergun, 75 is the FaN, 100 is a rocket and 200 is the Direct hit. the range will be rather short though, and will act like a shotgun. It has no knockback.

Replacement for the pistol: the unmaker. Similart to the scottish reistance, except this causes all building to go down a level on a "hit" This can be used to downsize your sentry (if its underwater, level 3 sents are easy to see, whereas level one and two sents are hidden) or indeed your enemies. It takes 5 seconds to recharge after every use. The building has to be visible in order to use this wep.

For the demolition PDA, the big red button. It acts exactly like the normally demolish tool, except the explosion range is now huge (twice the size of a rocket) and does damage to enemies within the vicinity. Cannot be used to demolish sapped buildings (to give the spies a chance.)

theres my ideas.
