Hey my fellow escapists, was hoping you could help me out with a decision. I'm doing a bit of study in Ireland right now and I love it, but I figure I have to hit the big island next door at least once before I leave. So I'm going to Britain for the weekend, but I can't decide whether to spend my time in England or Scotland (fuck off Wales :p) I was thinking of hitting both, but one day for an entire country seems a bit much.

I'd appreciate suggestions, particularly from citizens of the U.K. Thanks.

Edit: Yes yes, Wales is lovely, I'm just not interested this time around.

And just what do you have against taffies anyway? I hear Wales is a very nice place.

Anyway to answer you question I say FREEEEEEDOOOMMMMMM... I mean Scotland.

Of course all of my friends who have been overseas say London is the bomb so I dunno...

Come to Scotland. It's like Ireland, but with more rain. On a serious note, Glasgow and Edinburgh both have lots of stuff to do and see, and they're close enough that you could easily visit both in a single day if you want to. So yeah, come to Scotland.

Scotland! Lot's to see and do and it's pretty nice if it's sunny similar to ireland but as suggested Glasgow and edinburgh are good and the flights from ireland aren't too expensive and ther eis lots to see, castles and history and stuff if that's what you are after

Scotland's got much nicer countryside/mountains and whatnot, but England has better cities (slightly). York and the Oxbridge pair are usually good places to not get beaten up by mobs after ten o'clock. Actually, maybe avoid cities.

I like neither cities nor countryside though, so my opinion is probably invalid. Stay indoors; avoid the weather.

The Scottish accent is pretty irritating, but England has about 6 equally irritating accents depending on where you are [London being the worst]
So it all depends...do you like variation in your annoyances?

SCOTLAND!!!

As said above, Edinburgh and Glasgow have shitloads to do (I'm actually going there in 2 weeks) and it's (comparatively) dirt cheap to fly from Ireland.

This is kind of a long shot, but that wouldn't happen to be a 'Maiden reference would it?

OT: Depends what you're after; you've gotta go to London at least once, but the highlands of Scotland are really peaceful.

Edit: Oh yes, and visit some castles, they're always popular.
