It's a shame that the goal didn't count and make it 2-2. If that have happened the English team may have been in a more fighting spirit and maybe come out better.

I have to admit though that even without that goal we sucked big time. I mean, come on, our best player was our keeper. Well played Germany though. They did a good job and were playing really well, but god did we make it easy for them.

Thank god I don't actually like football too much, I'll save my rage of losing for England's badminton at the 2012 Olympics.

The last two German goals were the results of an over-committed English offensive.
Also, Donovan scored all, and the only, three goals for England in FIFA2010.

Germany would've won regardless in my mind.

Does anyone else also think that it is time for the so called "Golden Generation" to stop playing for England. There are so many younger players who would love to play for their country and therefore we should play them instead. I haven't seen Steven Gerrard play an England friendly for years, not really what I call committed. However as the next competition will be Euro 2012, by then the Golden Generation will be too old and we can pick a whole variety of new players, for example:

Joe Hart for David James - even though David James is brilliant at 39, however he is getting on a bit and Joe Hart is a brilliant keeper, I rate him a lot more than Rob Green.

Ashley Young for Steven Gerrard - Steven Gerrard should not play on the left as he is a central midfielder, and Joe Cole is getting old as well, so therefore the most logical choice is Ashley Young.

Carlton Cole/Bobby Zamora for Emile Heskey - I still do not see why people think Emile Heskey is good for England. Ok he can hold the ball up and he keep players off him, but so can Bobby and Carlton and they can both shoot as well.

James Milner for Frank Lampard - I know James Milner plays well on the right hand side, however I have to say that Aaron Lennon would have been better on that side and therefore he should drop into the middle to replace Frank Lampard. Frank never really plays well for England.

Also another point for 2 years, there are a lot of players to come through into the England ranks if they have brilliant seasons. I'm keeping my eye on Adam Johnson. He gets a transfer to City in January and keeps Shaun Wright-Phillips out of the side. Enough said.

well im glad germany won. im scotish so if england won the bbc would have never shut up about it. also the way the bbc and the rest of england advetsted there team was riddculas and after they lost there took back all there words and said they wernt ready.
How ARE Scotland doing in the World Cup anyway?
yeh i know but its rather unfair that we have to deal with all the english bullshit even though were not in the cup also i bet if Scotland got in they would have considerably less attention payed to them

It would of been a completely different match if the goal was allowed, the english players mentality would of been much higher, and vice versa the Germans would be lower from being 2-0 up then suddenly back to 2-2. It is a shame for the sport that such a ridiculous decision was made, but, it happens. Sadly.

I call myself British because I like the sound and dont see the point in making such an unnecessary seperation between myself and someone from Wales or Scotland or Ireland.
Interesting point. I generally refer to myself as British before Scottish. I am proud to be British and I am proud of many of the things our nation has achieved. The problem for those us outside England though is, as I said, mostly related to the media who have an unfortunate tendency to forget that England and Britain are not the same thing, and for us non-English it is as if we don't actually count sometimes. Most of the time though, at least for the part of the majority of Scots it is just good natured banter not unlike the type you often find in a city with 2 football teams. Glasgow, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dundee and the various London rivalries spring to mind.

Sadly, there are always a small minority who take it way too far but like I said, for the most part it is just friendly banter. I only felt the need to launch into a long explanation because I have deduced that an overwhelming number of English have no idea why we are all pissing ourselves laughing and assume we are bitter/jealous/racist/all of the above. I'm not suggesting for a moment that you were making a similar statement, you just provided me with a convenient platform to try and demonstrate that we do have a genuine bone to pick thanks to the media (not the English people themselves) and are laughing purely because it was funny after the usual media hype and belief that being good enough to win it 44 years ago means you still have a world class team ^_^
