How is it going all?

Basicly, I want to fill in the above blank. I love bethesda's open rpgs. Loved Morrowind, loved Oblivion, enjoyed Fallout. After sinking literally hundreds of hours into Oblivion (as well as about 100 seperate mods) I am looking for another game to fill my time. Does anyone else know of a game that is similiar in it's openess to oblivion? I love the fantasy aspect of it, but any setting would do, so long as it be awesome!

Thanks!

What about the older Elder Scrolls games? Arena and Daggerfall. I know for a fact that Arena is now freeware, although I'm not sure about Daggerfall.

I'd reccomend X3:Terran conflict over reunion; its well-updated these days and is somewhat more advanced technologically.

Well, you could try X3 Reunion. It's a totally different type of game, a space sim, but it's got the same sense of "Go anywhere, do anything" that made Oblivion so fun.

Also, I hear Mount and Blade is great, although I haven't played it.
Mount & Blade is pretty good. Its main selling point is the outrageously excellent combat mechanics. It is a very comprehensive game, although it is rather ugly, and the quests are randomly generated (read: really boring). But you are able to roam and raid. The big pitched battles are awesome fun.

I have tried X3 Reunion, but it's learning curve actually scares me a bit, and am still getting used to it.

Mount and Blade eh? I have never heard of it, Ill have to cehck it out.

Also, call me vain but when it comes to daggerfall and arena I am kind of put off by their dated graphics. I mean, gameplay is a larger factor to me than graphics, but man, those are some old games.

Yeah that game is sweet, but the learning curve is retarded. However once you figure out how to play it opens up and is really fun.

In terms of a game similar to Oblivion, try Two Worlds. It's not the greatest, but if you like it, it can be a great time sink.

I think Borderlands might fit in that blank. It's not as serious as Fallout or TES series but it as a similar look and feel to Fallout.

Go with mount and Blade, it's cheap and has one of the better modding communities out there. I've heard good things about the Lord of the Rings Mod for it but I've never checked it out.

World of Warcraft :p

Nah, just go with the older Elder Scrolls games. They were fun back then, so if you are able to look past their outdated graphics, there's a lot of fun.

In fact Shadow of Chernobyl is better. Don't forget to install the latest patch and Complete 2009 (an unofficial but very good patch). I don't know if I'd call it open ended though it's more like an fps with huge maps where you can sort of do things your way.

Main problem with Borderlands is that it doesn't have a really great story and there's a very limited number of missions. I loved it though, but don't expect it to be a time sink if you are looking for a lot of missions.
