Well, you could try X3 Reunion. It's a totally different type of game, a space sim, but it's got the same sense of "Go anywhere, do anything" that made Oblivion so fun.

Also, I hear Mount and Blade is great, although I haven't played it.
I agree with Furburt. The graphics are amazing for a state, it's all open and if you get bored of that, you can create an entire universe yourself and populate it with whatever you want. I'm not so good at that yet, I've just made a couple of sectors, space stations and a few ships.

One thing you should do is download the cheat scripts to save you making your own, then lower the mass of your ships. Flying the larger ships like the Akima is really hard because some of the other stupid sunday driver pilots don't think it would be a good idea to fly around the huge ship hurtling toward them.
LOLLLLLLLZZ that sounds hilarious! Do the ships work on a hull/shield or just hull base? When the ships run into you do you take severe damage?
They have shields and hull, sometimes, they bounce off and survive, most times the little fighters just mush up against my hull like flies and, naturally, I get the blame from their factions. Flying around Argon space, just heading in to a gate, minding my own business and bump... bump bump bump.... bump, the trade convoy they had coming out of the jumpgate all mushed against my windscreen and the Argon Federation are sending Argon One after me because it's apparently my fault they employ visually impaired pilots. :(

In terms of a game similar to Oblivion, try Two Worlds. It's not the greatest, but if you like it, it can be a great time sink.
Ninja'd (except I was gonna say it jokingly).

Borderlands is kinda like Fallout 3.

I tolerated Oblivion and felt slightly negative and resentful towards Fallout 3.

Morrowind, however... Bad combat aside, it's a masterpiece. Bethesda at their best.
Oblivion was a good game, but it felt more wooden, more straight laced than Morrowind. The political intrigue was entirely absent, the locales were varied up to a point but never seemed to capture the sort of 'magic, only real' feel that morrowind had. And I was left with exactly zero sense of the sheer size of the world due to the fact that I could auto travel to anywhere anytime. The sense of accomplishment you got from successfully learning the routes and travel systems of Morrowind was a big part of how it sucked you in. finding new places was a journey, in Oblivion you just point at the nearest un-mapped city and tape the forward button down....

ALSO, I want to fly God-Dammit! what happened? did all the mages just come down with collective amnesia?

Alright time for an update,

For all those who said Mounts and Blades, well, it was not at all what I was looking for, but HOLY CRAP ITS AWESOME!!!!

It reminds me of Dynasty warriors, but soooo much better. I think I played for about 4 hours straight and ill be damned if I dont pplay for another 5 when I get off work.

Hehe I miss the permanent enchantments as well, but they were indeed game breaking at times :)

You could try Two worlds but that is Oblivion copy-pasted with god of war&world of warcraft elements.

You know, people above have said it is crap, and I have tried it before, albeit only once and for about an hour and a half. I could not for the life of me find out where to go :)

Whats your opinion of it?

I played X3 for ages up until the point where I had a few factories and a fully kitted out M1 then my desire to play it just vanished. Nothing was a real threat anymore and anything else would just be essentially grind.

How is it going all?

Basicly, I want to fill in the above blank. I love bethesda's open rpgs. Loved Morrowind, loved Oblivion, enjoyed Fallout. After sinking literally hundreds of hours into Oblivion (as well as about 100 seperate mods) I am looking for another game to fill my time. Does anyone else know of a game that is similiar in it's openess to oblivion? I love the fantasy aspect of it, but any setting would do, so long as it be awesome!

Thanks!
I would suggest enjoying some online gaming til New Vegas comes out. All those hours of playing singleplayer can damage your brain...I must have played Oblivion for 300+ hours...

Oh believe me I play online quite a bit as well. I play too many games in general, to be honest, but then again, who doesn't? ;)
