I saw the Zaibatsu play this and i was like
"Oh yeah, that game.. i forgot.. i'll buy that now."
And I gotta say im really digging it. I was getting pretty burned out on Darksouls 3 at 123 hrs
but somehow i am already 69 hrs in on the shootout!

My main is the pilot, just so much utility!
Don't wanna use a key on a brown chest? Don't have too.
Wanna save enough money and keys for those hard elevator unlocks? Pretty much got to play him to reduce RNG.
Beyond the third floor and you need to use real guns now? Good you got bonus max ammo capacity.

Wondering what other people play, maybe there is some tech i don't know beyond dodge or die. ^^

The Hunter's Crossbow makes the early two levels waaaaay easier to do without being hit, which means extra rewards after the boss fights. The better drop rates associated with the dog doesn't hurt either.

I'd say she's easily my favourite character.

I like her too floor 1, kinda 1.5, and 2 can still be cheesed with the hunters 22 dmg shots.
Its just the dogs item find is unreliable for me.
If I have any complaints with the game is the hidden stats.
I'd like to know how Cool I am.

Once you reach blackpowder mine hit a grunt with the bow and see if his health is low enough to do a dodge roll kill.
That would change her abunch for me.

The dog IS unreliable, but at the same time, so is the Pilot's lockpick IIRC... it's a roguelite after all, one has to expect a minimum of RNG.

The Cool stat being hidden is complete BS though, I have to agree.

The lockpick is definitely RNG but its controllable.

Like on my hunter runs I can go acouple floors before a hit and if all he digs up is hearts its pointless.
You can get hearts from chests but the the chest item pool and floor clear item pool are so different.

For instance on the first floor unlocking the Oubliette can be done before half the map is cleared sometimes so i like to use the picks to open 1 of the 2 padlocks. If it jams i restart.
If there is a standard chest (low drop quality) I don't want to spend a key. Or If there's a locked room baring another locked chest its nice to skip those key taxes.
His price discounts feed into this too.
Once you reach blackpowder mine and above the prices increases are super high yet item selection doesn't really improve.
When i met the gunsmith my 2nd time the price of bouncing rounds was 130!
So you buy low (more keys) and cash in later.

Hunter for me. While the dog is unreliable, just the fact that i have a chance to get an usefull item with every room i clear, seems miles over what any other character has.

Of course for me is the Space Marine. Why you ask? Well, I am glad you asked, but MAJOR END spoilers below to see the glory of the Space Marine!!!

For the people who didn't notice, The Space Marine is an Unofficial Version of DoomGuy from DOOM series. However at some point you fight the Original Classic Imps from DOOM!!!
See from 3:00 in the video

And this is the best way how to make someone scream like a little girl from happiness [Me]

I happened to beat her past the first time, still haven't with the pilot.
She is pretty cool.

I originally stuck with the Hunter, but now I mostly use the Marine. I prefer having more accuracy, it helps clear out the bosses faster and is generally more satisfying.

I've beaten all character pasts, and now I'm trying to reach the final area again which I could've beaten the first time if I quit trying to find a shop instead of endlessly looking around like a complete fool :p

Its the boring choice, I realize, but the Marine.

His passive scales across every gun and the whole game damage curve. The lockpick can become irrelevant once a basic arsenal is assembled, and the dog is a pretty minor bonus to the reward mechanics overall. The convicts passive requires being hit, which is just trash considering the game mechanics are pretty explicitly designed around not getting as much as possible and building flawless room streaks, to say nothing of the main need for damage ups being against bosses, who explicitly must be flawlessed for HP boosts and elevator material.

I thought that as well except the bonus floor bosses have no reward for not being hit as far as i can tell.
When you have a shootbang thats all about dps its nice to melt a boss.
Old bullet king is harder than some 4th floor bosses so i skip him most the time even when i have the crest >.<
