I used to pretend i was born in 1988 before turning 18, not sure why i chose 1988- perhaps it's one of those nice rounded numbers. Should have chosen something silly like 1900.

Despite being old enough, I just scroll down a random year. Why would I waste time entering day, month, and year?

Well, now that I'm over 18 I'm able to enter my own birthdate, but never once has an "Enter Your Age" thing kept me from viewing the video. Honestly, is there ANYBODY who saw one of those and went "Oh shucks, I better not watch this"?

I generally just click through really fast and wind up with January or February 1st-10th, something close to the year I was born.

Fun fact: I was over 21 before I ever encountered one of these, because I'm two years older than the TCP/IP protocol.

Eww old person!

I kid I kid really.

The "I am too lazy to enter my real age" seems to be the dominant answer on this thread.

Nope.

I don't drive.

I use a bank card for all my shopping.

And I'm not a thief.

Wow, that was easy.
Technically, listening to a copyrighted song on Youtube is a crime. And you've never jaywalked? Never slandered? Never hit anyone? Never done ANYTHING illegal? You're in denial and pathetic. You want them to ban a bunch of people because we don't do what ever the fuck you want?
Don't feed the troll. Seriously, it's an unwinable war against someone who flies the flag of self righteousness and honestly believes no one can ever prove them wrong no matter what the case is. And if you try they just strawman you. Just wait for the inevitable, the same type of people have come and gone over the years of the escapist.

I don't have to lie about my age, but if the thing defaults to January 1st then I just choose a random year before 1980 to watch the video faster.

I am old enough to watch whatever I want (27), but I usually just to a quick scroll down and end up somewhere in the 1970's, or 1960's, even though I was born in 83.
It is a silly as hell "security" measure that shouldn't even exist.

I get that crap almost every time I watch something on GamesRadar or ScrewAttack. I just enter any year, because I'm too impatient to dig down for my own.

Nice to see so many people admitting to breaking the law.

Should they not all be banned, Escapist staff?
They're disclaimers. They're existence is just to serve as a legal defense. There is no law against falsifying your age to view the content. Its illegal to BUY the content, but not to view a trailer for it. Why? Because people are really sue happy.

Please, don't pretend to be a moderator that knows the rules to this site. Last I checked, you got put on probation for just that.

Never did I enter my actual birth date, because I wouldn't get to see the clip, but sometimes I just enter the correct day and month instinctively.
Same here. I should probably stop.

It's illegal for someone under certain ages (depending on the state and country you live in) to view pornography. Many people here have admitted to breaking that law.

Facts - the more you know.
No, its illegal for a minor to purchase pornography and it is illegal to sell pornography to a minor. Even then, those laws don't govern the Internet. They govern store clerks and the magazines themselves. Similar to Alcohol. A minor can't buy it, but there is no law that states a minor cannot consume a legal amount of the drink (About .02 BAL is considered over the limit for a minor)
