The other day i found and read through every post in http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/6.119221-First-Person-Gaming

Now I am in the mood for more epic gaming stories... can be from any game, any genre, anything.

Post your most epic gaming moments!

Here's a couple of mine from Gears of War.

I was in a 1 Vs 3 sniper match on gridlock. They had all spread out on one half of the map with one person in the central sniper tower.

I had managed to hole myself up in the far right sniper balcony. One guy rushed my position with a lancer, I popped out of cover and somehow managed to shoulder my rifle and get a headshot, then I threw myself back into cover as a sniper bullet flew over head.

Once again I jumped out, shouldered the sniper and instinctively pulled the trigger, topping the guy who had taken over the main sniper tower. I then turned to my right and saw their third rushing the stairs beneath my position. He fired off a shot for a reload then rolled forward. Before he could complete his roll I shouldered my rifle and pulled the trigger and his headless corpse smashed into pavement inches from the stairs.

Feel free to add any of your epic moments :D Please respect the English language and grammar and add some detail to make it interesting!

Cool story br-- *BANNED*

Well, I remember one time in Left 4 Dead 2 and two my friends, being Coach and Nick, were lying dow at the ground and the other one, being Rochelle, dead just outside the saferoom.

Instead of running into the saferoom as a sole survivor, I noticed I had one Adrenaline in the pack...

I pumped myself with Adrenaline, rushed over to my friends and helped them up in mere seconds time.
Just as I got pulled by a smoker, I was finished bringing up one of them, being Coach, up and he shot the smoker down, although to late for me to still stand.

However, he had a defibrillator and two helping hands.
The first thing he did after getting me up to a normal height was to resurrect my friend, being Rochelle as I was helping Nick up.

Than Coach gave me pills since I was seeing black and white and we had no other defibrillator.
Anyways, we all four went into the safe room with severe wounds, but otherwise alive.

All because of one Adrenaline...
I've always preferred Adrenaline over pills from that day forward.

That's pretty lucky, every time anything like that ever happens to me the bots just look at me dumbfounded that i saved them, so I've stopped saving them since they aint going to do anything to help me.

OP: Playing as a heavy in tf2 on hydro i managed to ninja cap all on my own the point that's up the 2 ramps in the middle of like a radar dish.

Also anytime i can rush into an area(as heavy) with about 5 or 6 players and tear 4-5 of them down before i get taken down is always fun.

Game: Worms Armageddon
System: PC

I was playing against two of my friends in multi-player on a custom map. It was a bunch of floating girders hovering over water (instant death), a few of which were booby-trapped with mines and napalm barrels. The game had just started and each of us had only suffered a couple of casualties from our original 8 worms apiece.

It was my up, so I ninja-roped (method of transportation) to a platform with an enemy worm and walked up beside him. I pulled out a baseball bat (my favourite regular weapon in that game and an instant killer on my map) and aimed for the skies. *WHACK* The enemy worm took off towards the clouds. But instead of traveling in a perfect arc and finding certain death in the water, he bounced off of another floating girder and met another of my foes on a third. The two worms skidded off of their platform onto another, but this one had not a worm, but a mine. *BOOM*

The explosion sent the two worms flying once again and the concussion knocked not one but two nearby enemy worms into the drink to their death (enemy casualties: 2). Thanks to their relative positioning when the mine 'sploded, the two flying worms were traveling in different directions. One of the worms barely cleared the edge of a girder and collided into two other enemy worms, sending all three to their deaths (EC: 5). The other was soaring almost directly upwards.

But what comes up must come down, so the worm came hurtling towards the Earth to his doom. But lo! It was not water that met him, but a girder! Was it an open girder you ask? Goodness, no. There was a napalm barrel on it.

Now before I go any further, you should know one thing about death in a Worms game. When a worm dies, he does not go quietly into the sunset. He instead pulls out an explosive plunger and commits an explodey suicide, regardless of who or what is around him. It's not a large explosion, but it does some damage and, more importantly, will destroy anything within range. Anything. Back to the story...

[HEADING=1]*BOOM*[/HEADING] (EC: 6)

The explosion destroys the barrel, spreading flames into the wind. The flames travel a short distance, but along the way, they severely burn two more enemy worms and send them to their deaths below (EC: 8). Finally, it was done.

After all was wrapped up, one of my friends had lost 5 of his soldiers, the other lost 3. Because of sheer bullshit luck, none of my worms lost even a single hit point. I had 6 worms remaining, while my two friends had 4 between them. They both surrendered afterwards. I cannot stress enough that I had not intended to do any of this; I was just going for the original kill, nothing more. None of us has ever seen a better shot with a non-special weapon and they never again agreed to play a match on my map.

Now I ask you, Escapist, can any of you claim a better result with a regular weapon in a worms game? I'm not talking Banana Bombs, Mad Cows, Concrete Donkey, or a Holy Hand Grenade; I'm talking shotgun, grenade, bazooka, or sheep.

(disclaimer: I must warn these stories may not be truly awesome but I am (A) a mediocre gamer with (B) a less than stellar connection. I'm used to painful performances in online games)

Dunno if it counts as epic, but this moment stuck in my mind, mainly because it reminded me of a scene from an anime called Spriggan, where what happened felt like a straight replay.

I'm playing halo on PC, with a sniper rifle, when I spot an enemy, also with a sniper rifle, looking across the map - there's no way he can see me, so I tap zoom, line up the shot, then to make sure, tap zoom again to maximum magnification. He turns to look right at me just as the scope hits maximum zoom.

In call of duty 3, earning my War Hero Achievement. I pretty much capture all the points for my team single handedly, arriving just in time to kill the enemy team member capturing the final point. Next thing I know, the point comes under a rain of grenades, my reaction being to wedge myself into the edge under the directions the grenades are coming from, and my luck is in - my screen goes red from close detonations, but nothing kills me, and the final point is captured.

I want to point out that I think we all have many epic moments, and thats a credit to the games we play.

The first moment which springs to my mind would be recently on Battlefield Bad Company 2. as a team we where outnumbered 7 to 10 on nelson bay. As the defenders we had already lost the first rush position and had fallen back, the other team where well organised and deadly effective while we were spread out and in general couldn't cope with them. We lost one of the bases, and so with them on nearly full tickets as a team we all gathered around point A and had what was one of the most epic battles i've seen on that map, let alone the game.

The map being dark meant bullets streaking across the battlefield contrasted brilliantly with the dark environment, and we constant bombardment of rockets and smoke grenades. It's simply amazing that in that constant hailstorm of fire from both sides that we ended up victorious, somehow managing to just hold the line right next to the crate, at one point pretty much using shotguns we where that close to one another.

What makes me happy about that though is that on a game like battlefield chances are that will happen again, as is the way with such a stellar game.

I can't help but think worms must be a great source of epic moments. MY moment of epic failure was back on Worms Armageddon. A few friends and myself were playing on the team 17 map, which for those of you who didn't have the pleasure is essentially a giant team 17 logo dotted in mines and explosive barrels. This giant logo has a perfectly flat and mostly even top, above which there is no roof or indeed any sort of wall like surface to save your worms if they fall off.

The frirst move of the first turn my mate points out that almost all of the worms spawned on top of the logo in a big line, with only one of his worms having spawned below the rest in the middle of the 'E'. This was his currently active worm, and he knew what had to be done. With nary a tear in its tiny cartoon eye, this worm roped its way to the top and kamikazed along the line, killing 11 worms and himself. This was enough to put both myself and another of the group out of the game on turn 1!

That, my friends, as a rail kill. From hell.

Heh I'm reminded of an epic game of Starcraft I had quite sometime ago. It still sticks in my mind to this day due to its sheer awesomeness. It was a 3v3 on your basic Hunters map. Me and a good mate, plus another, versus three random battle.net guys.

As is probably a familiar scenario to many, our 'teammate' leaves before anyone can even touch their minerals. We agree to continue anyway, silently expecting if they were half decent players we'd luck out due to a sheer numbers game in the end. I'm Protoss and my mate is Zerg, and our three opponents are one of each.

Also as luck would have it, I was at 12 and my friend at 6, meaning support was never going to be swift or easy. Now, I won't go into a blow by blow commentary, but I can say that my friend was immediately put on the defensive by a marine/ling rush.

He quells the early attempts but they then attacked en masse, I provided what support I could but my mate did an excellent job holding them off pretty well with early lurkers. They mainly focused on him, allowing me to focus on trees and upgrades. And it was quiet for a while, but we spot the horde on the move towards the middle.. They went right for my mate, and I was about to offer support but instead I massed what I had and threw them at the Terran.

My mates base was obliterated, but so was the Terran. He gg's and leaves, but my mate has a couple of hatches up top of my base and uses what he has to begin a small rebuild.. Or so I thought. We pretty much thought we were done for, so for fun I went again on the offensive at the Zerg this time. I did some damage before they repell me, and they turn around hit me hard, so my friend using what minerals he has left to quietly amass Zerglings instead of focusing on rebuilding. Instead of defending with them (Not much point) - He charges them past the fighting and right into the Protoss base. He has Carriers by this point, and he sends them to defend this sheer WAVE of Zerglings.

They arrive to pop lots of the little guys, but the sheer speed and numbers he's sent out, the base is wiped out and the Carriers are left standing there as the guy gg's and leaves.

In the meantime my base is half levelled by the Zerg guy and we just both just turn on him and in the end there was hardly ANY buildings on the map just basically units and sheer desperation hehe and in the end, we just win the race and wipe him out first..

Haha sorry for the rambling there, and I'm sure people can probably say "Whats so awesome about that I had that sort of thing all the time" But hey, that just sticks with me as the best game I've ever played. Thanks for watching :p
