About half of my time playing fallout 3 or skyrim lol. One time outside of the stables in whiterun, Louis Letroush (the guy from the Frost horse quest) was standing around twitching with about 10 other "clones" of himself attached like siamese twins.

HA! In my game, the same guy was at the same location but inside the ground. Like up to the waist. It was an amusing sight but he just told be "Hi 'sup" when I talked to him and wasn't at all bothered. Some time later, I was passing by the stables again and saw there was another NPC standing next to the half buried Lois Letroush. It was in fact Lois Letroush staring down at his...brother? Clone? Self? As the game progressed, more and more Lois Letroushes gathered there. It was a small crowd last I passed by, probably a dozen people.

OT: Legacy of Kain. The games involve a plot twist leading to a plot twist. And then comes Blood Omen 2, which makes you scream WTF. In tears.

But let me give you a more specific examples - Kain, the player character, can learn to charm people, which means mind control. Well, charmed people are used to pull levers in factories, upon which they die in a horrible explosion that opens a path for you. Here is the deal - WHO MAKES LEVERS THAT MAKE YOU DIE UPON USE? And why in Hastur's name do they even damage the factory? Which sane, rational mansays to himself "You know what we need here? Some EXPLOSIVES! Oh and they are very dangerous, so let's rig them to blow up when this lever is pulled. Yeah, and we'll even put the lever next to them."

But then again, these are the same people who didn't find anything wrong with the Sarafan Lord, that is the guy who is the head of the Sarafan order (erm, knights vampire hunters, sort of). Oh, and that guy has lived for about 200 years and has green flames coming out of his eyes.

Moving on, at one point, Kain visits a prison. It has a switch that destroys the whole place. Why? Just why do you have that? In (pretty much) plain view just sitting there.

Oh and did I mention that for some as of yet unexplained reason, in the very beginning of the game, Kain is shown to have an entire army of vampires. When the original BO (which is chronologically set before BO2) made such a big deal of Kain being the only vampire left in the world. Also he is unable to infect some new offspirng. OK, it all fairness, it may be the work of another character. Who, as a vampire, you can guess was last dead (with Kain being the only one and all).

There is more. There is lots more. But I don't want to go into further detail, you get the picture.

Most recently, that would be Xenoblade Chronicles at about... 75%-80% way through the story. Right after you defeat the "self-proclaimed leader of Mechonis".

Twists and turns a plenty after that fight. Holy shit.

For me, it was when I first played MGS2 on the PS2. I found it to be a really gripping game, minus one slightly annoying main character, but overall really solid (no pun intended) and a great addition to the series. Then it got weird...

Raiden goes through the inner workings of Arsenal Gear all the while the Colonel goes on one of the strangest psychobabble rants each time you call him.
I need scissors! 61!

The scene in Arkham Asylum in which the game seemingly resets itself. :O

The ending of Assassins Creed. OR any game from the series. You can't just fucking skip the credits! >:c

The ending of Half Life 2: Episode 2. That made me sad... but in a WTF kind of way. ;-;

Seeing the first released pictures of Max Payne 3. I wasn`t joining the comming shitstorm but the pictures of this bald, bearded, slightly heavier Dude left me with my head scratching.

MGS2 - playing this blonde kid after the great boat intro was a big WTF to me. The demo sold the game for me (boat intro) and after it it wasn`t MGS to me. I really had to force myself to complete it.

Saints Row3- WTF have they done to the franchise and why is it so short with so little to do, why did they cut out so many features?
This was one of my easiest games to get all trophies.

Basically every break down of the fourth wall in Metal Gear Solid series leaves me both chuckling gleefully and scratching my head and feeling my brain get sucked into itself. "Because the internal feed mechanism is shaped like an infinity symbol." "Yep. That'll give you infinite ammo, alright!" WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAT?!

The fake-out credits in Shadows of the Damned. I did not see that coming. Oh, and while on Suda51, the very concept of Killer7.

The entirety of Deadly Premonition, specifically in regards to the facial expressions and character animations. Oh my god, the fact the game was even released is just mindblowing. It really is pure entertainment. Everything about it... Jesus. So fucking insane.

Oh yes, and some of the later moments of FEZ (starting with the fake OS reboot), that very much implies that you are controlling a character who basically exists inside a NES cartridge. And then of course the game expects you to start translating a language, and I had to whip out pen and paper. THAT was a big "what" moment. It also made me grin with delight, because I realized how much hidden depth there was to the game. But yeah, just the whole atmosphere of that game goes from delightfully retro to 16-bit hell over the course of a few hours. Definitely blew my mind.

Oh yes.The most classic example being
You're in a room with a horde of monsters coming towards you.Suddenly the "Your controller is disconnected" message pops up on screen.Cue AAAAAHHH WTF as you scramble to push the connector back in only for it to turn out to be a hallucination and the game just fucking with you

The Scarecrow in Batman Arkham Asylum made for some particularly WTF moments.

The moment where your screen appears to be malfunctioning and the game seems to reset itself.
Yeah, that bit really reminded me of the bits in Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem when your sanity meter runs out and crazy stuff starts happening, I think maybe someone at Rocksteady was a fan of that game.

My favourite epic bit in a game recently is in inFamous 2 when

You get to launch a nuke at The Beast. I mean you get to launch a fucking nuke at The Beast, how cool is that, even if is kinda convoluted as to how you get your hands on the nuke.

WTF indeed
The bit where it jumps over you is freaky as hell. I'm so looking forward to the pc version.

Some of the stuff Boone achieves in FO:NV. I once saw him shoot FOUR deathclaws running at me, picking them off like roaches. He scared me.

Castlevania: Lords of shadow. I've never played a castlevania game before, but I know the series involves VAMPIES and CASTLES. So having nether I was a bit dissappointed until around the end of chapter 4/5 where you're walking towards the vampire's home and BOOM! MASSIVE EPIC CASTLE LANDSCAPE! Gorgeous graphics, gorgeous.
