It's rather sad to come to the conclusion that video gamers have become intolerably lazy. No no, I'm not referring to the hours of sitting in front of the telly playing the games. I'm talking about coming to a point where people don't even want to play the game anymore and still want to be rewarded. (Ex: Boosters in MW2) What do you think causes this? Do you do this yourself? And how do you think this problem can be fixed?

People who boost because they want achievements that are difficult to obtain... I can relate... I'm a massive achievement whore and achievements mean a lot to some people.

But I don't brag about boosted achievements, I haven't properly earned them so I can't rightfully brag about them.

Boosting to 10th prestige on mw2 just seems pointless to me though.

If you were doing it for titles then that's slightly understandable but people who boost it then brag about everyone else being noobs need to be dragged out into the street and shot.

I am too lazy to play games a lot of the time, in that case i just don't play them though. If people are still seeking the rewards without being bothered to play then they're probably just blind to the fact that they're not enjoying a particular game.

I dont understand the 10th prestige boosters, I have never entered a game of Call of Duty and seens 10th prestiges and thought anything. Its a symbol with a number, means nothing.

I'm fortunate to be of a level of ability that doesn't require me to dip into this behaviour, but I've never held AIM botting and stat padding against the culprits of either. This is because I'm able to put myself in the point of view of somebody who'd love to have all the pins, have a nice K/D and own all the achievements... but knows that to do so legitimately is quite possibly beyond them.

Those things- pins, K/D, achievements- they're important to me. If I couldn't have them because I really wasn't good enough, it might get to me eventually.

Nope.

Haven't reached that point. I enjoy that little ritual that I call "Rest and Relaxation." Helps if you're in a pinch.

some achievements are just ridiculous tedious on getting

i haven't don this, but in a game if i need to do 500,000 sword swings from the side while chopping off a hand, for 25 gp, then fuck that no thank you

if there happens to be some way to glitch that or have it set on repeat where i dont have to touch the controller however

ehh, sure, why not?

but for ones like "beat it on veteran mode" ill try to my hearts content to do it, but if i can't, no big deal.

Yeah, if you're that obsessed with K/D, achieves, and pins..you're a sad strange little man. And you have my sympathy. No offense.

Hey now, I said I care about them, I also said I can get them without the illicit hand of aimbot or stat-paddery to help me. Obsession might be born when something is desirable and completely unobtainable, like achievements in the case of a totally crap player- that's all I was pointing out.

How many achievements really are that tedious though? I know a lot of them require a significant amount of gameplay, but that's just a time investement. Geometry Wars has the 75 enemies destroyed with reflected shots that's damn difficult, but I wouldn't put that in the same tedious category as what you described.

Because people are lazy bums who feel entitled to their rank/achievement/whatever, so they try to get it whatever way they can. It could be broken by instilling a sense of decency, respect, and motivation to work towards a goal rather than just getting to the goal. After all, getting there is half the fun.

I disagree with boosters because they want something that in all reality you dont exert any resource but time to achieve. That and i have 1000's of BS 10th prestiege lobby invites to MW2 when i dont even own it.

like i said, i dont get those achievements, simply because they are so tedious.

but there are a decent amount that are that way

ever played star wars the force unleashed?

*NO GAME I AM NOT DOING THE MOST USELESS FORCE POWER 750 TIMES!*

they had a good 5 achievements like that, and thats one game.

im sure there are tons of other games out there that sneak under the radar because they are below average that they have tons of those achievements.

i have played geometry wars and i agree thats just fucking hard, but i am in no way putting that in the tedious part, thats just a hard achievement to get and if you get it, fucking awesome, but if not, i understand, its damn hard, i did that game so many damn times to get some of those achievements..i was soo close on a few easily 50 times, and i rage quit and haven't touched it since.

Yeah I guess if I completely changed my worldly perspectives to someone who would love to wear a patchwork of my friends' and families' skins, I might be able to not hold that against the guy.

You sir, have blown my mind. The only person I've ever seen sympathising with Aimbotters.

Congrats, you progressive bastard. I think it's great people like you can be around.
This made me laugh. =D I guess I sympathise, but by the same token, I agree with the bans they get if they're caught out. You pays your money, you takes your chances.

I don't hold it against them, but I don't endorse morally dubious behaviour either. If I had the ability to stop them all today, I'd do it... and then feel like shit for them, because never having a "HELL YES" moment due to straight forward inadequate ability would suck ass. I play for those moments; without them, I'm not sure what the appeal of gaming is.

Thanks for the specific example. So far the only lame achievemtns I've come across are the ones that are unavoidable, as in you can't possibly not achieve them, therefore it's utterly pointless to have since everyone gets it.
