"Iron!" The chief miner, Eurn, told Balinothan excitedly on his report.
"Good! Keep mining, and bring the iron up, we'll store it in a pile over there until we can find some way of smelting it." Balinothan replied, pointing at a so far unused part of the cave.
While the mining all continued, Eurn urging his men forward to discover Ulurn, more Iron, or something new altogether, construction of the buildings was speeding ahead.
The Inn was finished, and the two-story building next door was rapidly following suit.
Work had begun on two identical buildings with two stories, and the first stage of their colonisation was advancing at a good pace.
But work had been going on for too long, Balinothan decided.
Tonight, they rested and celebrated, with a hearty drink!
Elgurth bought the kegs in with five dwarves helping him, as Balinothan rallied the people round.
They all took a responsible drink; some got relatively drunk, but their were strict measures in place to make sure they did not get so drunk as to risk damaging their current work.
Even the slaves were invited, having become treated as equals by now, considering most of them were Human, Gnomish or Dwarven, the Dwarves took a liking to them.
Around a campfire made from an empty keg, many of the dwarves and all the slaves slept calmly.
The next morning, work restarted in earnest, with the second building complete, work had begun on a fifth now, and the third and fourth were coming along nicely.
Balinothan's forces were quite spread out now, with the three construction teams and the miners, they wanted to exit the cave and do a brief exploration and mapping expedition, so Balinothan, Elgurth, and Eurn the Architect went out for an hour, and mapped the few hundred metres circumference around the cave.
They returned, by which time the third building had been finished, and they personally assisted the fourth and fifth buildings' creation.
Belongings and other items were brought off the Agun and into the buildings.
The Inn was furbished, and 5 dwarves were living on one story each of the three buildings, housing a good thirty men.
Balinothan and Elgurth, along with their honour guard, were keeping their generous reputation and slept in tents once again.
